I've been wondering this myself! We actually have quite a few kids ranging from > a year to 8 years old attending so I need to come up with some kind of entertainment! eek!

Definitely subscribing for ideas!

We didn't do games..... but we only had a couple of kids. LO was entertained enough because we opened up the porch so she got to go up and down the step in there, that was game enough for her.

We had lots of food so eating and mingling took awhile, and then of course presents with a one year old takes a long time. And so did the cake smash.... she was kind of confused about what to do.

@Mrs. Pen: I'm totally stealing your schedule. We are doing something very similar for our party (including the doljabi!) We aren't having any games, though.

@littlek: We are doing a photobooth. Originally when the party was just going to be about 20 of us it was going to be a photo with the guest of honor, but now that we are doing a larger gathering it will just be an open photo booth because baby girl will not be happy to take photos with every guest.

@littlek: We are DIYing. I have the backdrop already but I haven't figured out if we are going to just set up a tripod or have someone man the booth/camera.

@Mrs. Cowgirl: I think it's an awesome tradition, wish there was more traditional things like this in American culture--besides blowing out a birthday cake with candles.

We are also doing a "time capsule" and if all the "guideparents" can make it we will do a short naming ceremony. Our party will be mostly adults and a few children age 2 and under. We'll have a little corner of the room with a playmat and some toys for them, but no specific games for the kiddies.

@Mrs. Pen: If you scroll down on this thread, you'll see the venue, it's a cute cafe a couple of blocks from our apartment. http://boards.hellobee.com/topic/spring-2012-babies-1-yr-birthday-parties/page/2 We are renting the entire space.

And this list below is from an e-mail my friend put together for me regarding items for the doljabi:

Thread/yarn/noodles: long life
dried dates: good fortune for offspring/descendants
Rice/money: will be rich
Rice cake: healthy and good fortune
Knife: good cook
Ruler/needle (how the hell do you leave a needle?): good with hands

Book/paper/pencil: smart kid (they also leave a computer mouse these days).

The most common items I saw were:

Rice/money, book, thread

These days they make up their own though like below:

Toy stethoscope: doctor
toothbrush: dentist
microphone: celebrity
Baseball bat/golf ball: good at sports
Car keys/credit card/calculator: rich
Wrap a pen with thread: be smart and live long (huh… that's cheating)
tiara: pretty
mouse: will be good with computers like bill gates
Toy sword: brave

Along the lines of guess the birth weight how about:

A look what I can do game that doubles as table centerpieces? Take pics of your LO doing different things- crawling, making fishy face, pointing to his nose etc. Place a pic on eaxh table. Create a look what I can do sheet and askes guests to guess if he can do it or not yet. The person who gets the most correct wins a prize. You will want to throw in things that hace not been mastered.
