About a week or so ago I was asked to come in early (at 11ish weeks) to do the glucose challenge because my A1c was high. I already knew that I was pre-diabetic, which had been diagnosed by my RE in October. I had been pretty bad about taking my metformin since getting a +, plus I had never been sure it was doing anything.

I took the 1 hour test and failed with a 192. My OB/midwife office immediately notified me I had GD and didn't ask me to do the 3 hour test. I started taking my Metformin more regularly and started glucose monitoring 4x/day on Monday. Since I started I haven't had any bad readings. Everything, even my fasting levels, are fine (except for one low reading). I've been eating a rough GD diet, but definitely not measuring portion sizes or making sure I have exactly 1 starch and 1 protein, or whatever.

I also looked up my failed level of 192, and two different sources site anything under 200 as prediabetic. Which we already knew I was.

So I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with this? I'm starting to question whether they really made the right call, and whether testing 4x/day is really all that necessary. I'm also kind of tempted to do the glucose challenge again, or maybe suck it up and ask for the 3 hour.
