DH is speaking at a conference in Germany this November, so we're all going!
LO will be 20 months old so I'm thinking (hoping) the trip won't be too painful.
Have you traveled internationally with your LO? How old was s/he when you traveled?

Germany will be great.
We travelled internationally - to the US! - when LO was 6 months. It went really well. The long haul flight was a concern. We booked a seat with a pull down bassinet. Not sure if they have them on the US-Europe route or if your LO will still fit in them but it was really good for us. We used a baby bjorn through the airports and checked our stroller at the gate.

Just kidding. We're not flying until NEXT November! 11/2013. These people book keynotes way in advance! My brain's fried so I don't even know how old LO will be. Dur. 32 months. Almost 3 years old! By then we might even have a baby #2.
Definitely will not be flying international with 2 kids. #sad
Was looking forward to Europe!

@cupcakemama: HAHA. Actually, might not be too bad if #2 is at least a year old.. Does that mean I need to get pregnant now? Ahhhhh all this math is killing my tired brain!

@cupcakemama: okay. Just did the math. If I got pregnant today (which isn't gonna happen since DH is out of town and my period just ended--TMI! :)) #2 would be 11 months old ..

@chopsuey119: ha! I would def keep the option of the trip on the table.

@chopsuey119: I'm assuming you're flying with your husband which would help, you'd each get a kid. I don't know, I can't imagine a long flight with one kid let alone two....but I'm sure people do it and survive!

The 3 year old will need his own seat though. Not a big deal but you factor that in $$ wise. Int'l isn't bad. I've done 6 legs already with LO alone and we've only had one meltdown. He's 6 months.

Oooh... have fun! I'm curious how this goes for you b/c we'll be traveling to Germany with our LO at almost exactly the same age. I have a conference in Germany in July of 2013. LO will be 16 months, and I'm planning on bringing her and DH along.

I hope you can still go! I think it sounds like a great opportunity.

@skibobrown: Ooh! Fun! We're actually not going until Nov 2013! I'm not sure I'll be going now since there's a chance we'll have a baby #2 by then.
@Ardently: Are your parents German? And.. not sure where the conference will be! Or whether I'm still going.. :T

@chopsuey119: Nope, American. My dad was Air Force at the time, and my mom was in a rock band. lol They lived there for like five years though, and I've been three or four times.

How fun!!! Last time we flew internationally (Boston-London) we had the first row of coach seats (so there is the divider wall in front of you, instead of another row of seats), and the guy next to me had his daughter with him. The British Airways crew were amazing with her, and part of the wall came down like a tray and the stewardess gave the baby a sort of desk-top bassinet type thing to sleep in. She was maybe 1.5-2 years old (?). Anyway, it seemed to work out perfectly as there was more leg room in that front row, and the child got set up with her own little flight bed. She slept the entire flight.
