We have both but much prefer the taste of charcoal with lump charcoal. None of the Kingsford!
Since DH also smokes meats we'll also sometimes throw in chips like Applewood, Pecan, etc.

We have a gas grill but I much prefer charcoal. I hate our grill actually.

Charcoal! I don't mind the taste of either, but I'm always afraid I'm going to burn my eyebrows off with a gas grill.

I prefer charcoal when I have the time and patience, but our gas grill gets a lot more use because it's so much easier.

We have gas but DH puts special wood chips in a little metal box and it goes somewhere and really adds flavor to whatever being grilled!

No time or patience for charcoal. Plus my husband goes too heavy on the lighter fluid, gas wins for simplicity.

Charcoal, but not the lighter fluid soaked ones it has to be lit with a chimney. Lighter fluid makes me ill.

We have both. I voted gas only because it's faster. I can't tell the difference in taste

We have charcoal one because my DH is the griller - I cant stand how long it takes though!!!

Love the smell of charcoal, hate the wait. We use gas.

I love grilling with charcoal. It gives food that extra oomph in flavor and char.
However, cleaning up is much easier with a gas grill.

Gas is fast, you can't beat it. We grill too often for that. But my MIL makes wings over a charcoal grill for special occasions and it is AMAZING.

@BakerBee: haha well, there have been weirder cravings! And Russians swear charcoal cures a lot of ailments.
haha once we were gifted a Weber kettle, forget it, DH only grills with that now unless it's for a big group. We grill all year long and probably an average of 5x a week during the warmer months!

Charcoal tastes better, but don't have the patience for it. We have an awesome Weber grill which most of our neighborhood has. I think my brother has a similar one too.
