Baby put on 4 ounces yesterday with the formula feedings! I was told to stop BFing her because it was to much work for her so I have been pumping and gotten a couple of drops of milk. She has been under the lights for 24 hours and her levels came down a little. They are now going to wait twelve hours and test her tonight to see where they are at.
It has been a very emotional time for us and I really thanks you for all the good thoughts and prayers. Can't wait to being baby home and so happy that she is on the up swing.

@MrsH: I'm so happy to hear she gained!! It is so stressful in the beginning when they're having weight gain/jaundice issues. I hope her next check goes well also and you're able to take her home soon!

@MrsH: DS was in a similar situation when he was born. Since he was an IUGR baby, he had practically no weight to lose without being "in danger". He was born 4lbs. 13 oz. so he went straight on formula while I pumped since every little thing he did required so much energy (e.g. crying, holding his body temp). We would feed him my colostrum first then supplement with formula. He was also in the NICU due to his oxygen intake levels being all over the place. He had spells that required special attention. Since he was in NICU, we didn't get to room with him or spend much time with him. We only go to see and hold him during feeding sessions. Even then it felt so sad bc he was hooked up to so many wires and had IV inserted into his itty bitty hand. So every little beep made our heart plummet to the ground.
We didn't think we'd get to take him home with us 2 days later, but he was a fighter and proved to the doctors he could hold his own body temp and take down formula with no problems!! The very next day, we had a follow up appointment and he had already gained back his birth weight!!
Your DD is a fighter too I'm sure, and will prove jaundice who's boss! When y'all are home, and don't need light therapy anymore, we were told to sit by the window daily so that DS got some sun to help combat jaundice! Keeping y'all in my thoughts!!
