One of my reps is sad because her car was stolen last night IN FRONT OF HER HOUSE. I feel so bad!
Has your car ever been stolen or broken into?

That sucks! All of my tires were stolen about a year ago.

@Andrea: Did they just leave your car on blocks?!? That is horrible!

@autumnlove: yeah! It was such horrible weather that day, too: sleet and snow. I guess criminals are not deterred. I totally freaked because I had to go pick up DD from daycare but luckily DH was around!

No, but I know people who've had both happen to them!

My husband's call was broken into in the middle of the night...Nothing important was in the car but it's soooo unnerving and violating!

Never had a car stolen, but someone went under my car while it was parked at a public transporation parking lot and sawed off my two catalytic converters in broad daylight! They probably made $200-$300 by stripping out the platinum, but it cost me almost $5,000 in repairs!!
My car has never gotten broken into (*knocking on wood*), but the hubby's did a couple times when we lived at an apartment years ago. Replacing the window sucked!
Sometimes I feel like if we left a note that said here's my number, call me and I'll give you $100 instead of breaking my car, etc. makes everything so much easier and less expensive.

I live in a NICE neighborhood, and last week my car and several of my neighbor's cars were broken into. They left them in pristine condition and did no damage. I wouldnt have even known they broke in if my neighbor hadnt called me to warn me. They took my GPS, all of the cords (left the dashboard mount thing) and 2 pairs of ray-bans. Thank god I always program my "home" address in my GPS as a diffeerent house. I put a random address on a street near mine so that I can get to the area and know where Im going, but if someone stole my GPS and re-sold it or took it while I was out, they cant see where I live Anyways, I felt so violated.

I've had my car broken into twice, both times all they got was a cheapo GPS. Since the last time, I haven't replaced my GPS because I'm sick of dealing with getting windows fixed and my tints redone. I can't imagine the thieves got more than $50 for the GPS somewhere, so it really sucks.

@LivsMama: programming "home" as a nearby address is a brilliant idea!!!

I had my car broken into twice when I was in college. Once they smashed a window and stole my super cheap stereo while I was downtown to see the fireworks on the fourth of July. The other time I had left my purse hidden (I thought) in the car while I was working as a waitress. They broke in and stole my wallet and emptied my bank account before my shift was over. I'm so much more careful now.

@Alivoo01: thank my dad for that one lol. He worked for the government, so personal safety and discretion were always VERY important growing up. So when GPS came about, he at first told me to never have my address in there-even under someone else's name. So he had me use a nearby street. I used a corner store's address that is a few streets away

Broken into twice and vandalized twice.
First time all they got was a bunch of change, second time was at the mall, they mistook my diaper bag as a computer bag (I think) and smashed the back window in to get it...they must have been disappointed.
Vandalism was a snowball through the passenger window, other time my windshield wiper was ripped off and then it was keyed all the way around. Not fun times

My current one, no. But, my old one was broken into a few times when I had it, then stolen after I gave it to my cousin. It did get recovered, though!

My car was broken into when I was out for a workout along the river. I had left my bag with all of my stuff in it (wallet, change of clothes for work, cell phone, etc.) in my car, and the entire bag was stolen. I felt so violated. My address and house keys were in the car, so we had to have all of our locks changed. Ugh. At the time I was dating DH, I didn't have his cell phone # memorized, and he wasn't at work that day. I had to email his friends at work to get his cell phone number so that I could call him and tell him what had happened
