LO is almost 1 and he definitely has a lot more attitude now. I was getting ready this morning for work and letting him crawl/cruise around the bathroom. He tried to crawl into DHs vanity and when I pulled him out he had a mini tantrum.. what the what?? I thought that would happen later. Has anyone else noticed their LO becoming stronger willed? Feisty? Opionated?

Oh yeah. We've had some full on tantrums lately. T has always been a little feisty!

@winniebee: B does this thing where he arches his back and throws himself backwards. He does it when he's really happy or mad. This morning it was because he was mad.

@littlek: LOL. We had a thrashing, arching, flailing episode when he didn't want to leave the park the other day. Uh oh.

Yup. He knows what he wants but can't express it yet. Cue screaming and flailing on the floor. I'm getting better at deciphering what he wants and can usually cut it off pretty quickly, sometimes even avoiding the screaming altogether.

@KT326: That's great! The only problem is the things B want, he can't have. Ex: Opening and closing doors is so much fun in his book, but I won't let him do it because he will catch his fingers in the door. Or play with electrical cords. Or climb in Daddy's vanity and remove all the items. I'm such a mean mommy.

Oh yeah. He literally turned 1 and went from a sweet happy baby to a little monster some days. I think his brain is just further along than his body at this point and he's getting frustrated easily now.

My LO is only 8 months, but she's always been feisty! I have a feeling I'm in for it!

Oh yes, ever since my LO turned 1 he throws full on tantrums when he doesn't get what he wants or we take something away from him!

Oh my word, yes. Absolutely. We literally just left a restaurant due to a tantrum.

15 months old and he's the king of meltdowns and tantrums. He's such a little drama queen!

She was always just a little feisty, but now it's her way or she definitely lets us know she's not happy--either by crying, by pushing us away, by throwing things, and even by "fighting." It's so bad because when she tries to fight, it looks like girl fighting when girls just wave their arms around in front of each other. I have to stifle my laughter.

The other day T was spitting out water from his sippy cup like a fountain so I tried to take it away and said "NO." He just held onto it as hard as he could so we were playing tug of war with the cup and then he growled at me. My husband started laughing!

@winniebee: Hahaha. He growled! Do you have a dog that he could learn that from? Sometimes I don't know where/how these kids come up with these things.

Good Lord yes. He really turns on a dime- one minute smiling and laughing, next minute- full blown meltdown. This week it's mostly been before bed (he wants to keep playing) or getting dressed in the morning (we have to do a lot of creams for his eczema and he is not having any of it). The best was when there was no more roasted squash at dinnertime- OMG the tears! I feel better knowing it's not just us!

@winniebee: that is too funny. Sometimes, I have to remember not to laugh when B is being bad, even though it can be hilarious. -
@littlek: P also does the arch back and dive move, happy or mad, and it's new to this last week or so (she was 1 on the 7th).

ahh i'm so glad we have company with this little problem. Ever since she turned one, LO's been a tantrum machine. i have a feeling we're in for a long couple of years if supposedly the 2s and 3s get worse. and to think i used to be proud of her "independent" streak
