Like a public bus or train?
My girls (almost 4 and 18m) haven't. I feel like such a suburbanite saying that! LOL I grew up in NYC so I took the bus and train everywhere. But here, the public transportation isn't that great.

Yes. Both have always lived in major cities and we have never owned a car.

Yep, the bus in and out of downtown, several times. Otherwise I would never have been able to show her off at work!

Of course. I would guess this is highly regional/location dependent though.

E has only been on a bus twice - airport transfers in Spain. She has been on an aeroplane as many times as she has, been on a bus!

My big girls have but baby sister hasn't yet.
I'm a big fan of public transit.

Nope! I know, I am a suburbanite too, and I grew up in one of the most populated, crowded cities in the world...
pomelo / 5607 posts
Nope. Can't say when she will either. Public transportation isn't really a viable option for us where we live. If we were still in Denver she would have by now!

My older one has tons! Starting at like 6 weeks or so. She is great, enjoys looking around in the train, and thinks the bus is like Trolley on Daniel Tiger. But the baby hasn't yet- it's so much harder getting places with two now, and it just makes it easier to drive. Plus many of our friends moved to the suburbs so there are fewer places we need to take the train. She will though!

I live in a major city and LO had been on public transit a lot. I think his first time was when he was 2 weeks old.

No. Well, there was a bus to take us to the rental car place on our trip home at Christmas. Does that count? Haha!

Yes. She's gone on planes, the 'L' in Chicago, and the subway in NYC.
coconut / 8234 posts
We're NYCers so yep! Train, bus, and ferry! We take the bus to school M-F.
GOLD / cantaloupe / 6703 posts
Yup. We have just one car and on Saturdays I drive to the train station and DH takes LO via bus to get the car later. Also, we have taken LO via Bart (similar to train) several times.

@regberadaisy: Yes but not in our hometown.
NYC: Subway and bus.
San Fran: trolley, cable car, subway, light rail, BART (super light rail?), bus.
Cleveland: Rapid (light rail/trolley)
That's probably it.
But nothing here. Though they are opening up a brand new trolley line downtown (we just got the train cars!) so maybe this summer.
We spend a good deal of time watching trains at crossroads and at the big train station but they are all cargo trains.

Yes, LO and I took BART to a Disney princess show. Is was a sight to see all the princesses checking out the train. I've taken her one other time (and every day she commuted with me when I was pregnant). I haven't taken LO2 since there was measles exposure on BART right around when he was born and I didn't want to risk it. We may or may not wait for his MMR.
cantaloupe / 6171 posts
oh yes! our daily commute now that she's boycotting her stroller is 2 buses
persimmon / 1188 posts
Funny that you asked- he took his first train ride today! He just did it for fun, to visit me at work and we all drove home together. We don't normally use public transportation. It's not that practical for our location and lifestyle.
pomegranate / 3350 posts
No but we live walking distance to the train to downtown. Weekend schedules always interfered with naps and then it was cold so we just haven't taken it. We are planning to this spring or summer.
We also have a couple buses that run right near our house but I don't even know where they go! Suburb life! At our old house we took trains and buses almost every day (pre-LO!)

No. There isn't really public transport near me. 30/40 minutes out there is but that's not a thing here. I mean I guess I could call a taxi but people don't really do that either lol we've never traveled with them to a place that would need us to use public transport.

We don't have any where we live. But he's been on a bus, train, and plane this week while on vacation. Toddler boy heaven!

Yes. Public transportation is our preferred means of transport She's loves riding at the top of a double-decker bus and we always take the train whenever we go to the airport.

Loads of times! One of their favourite things to do is take the train in to London to see Daddy at work! DD1 used to ride buses with me all the time, but then we moved to an area that was more walking friendly and stopped taking the bus as much.

She asks to ride the subway all the time. We use public transportation since we have no car.
GOLD / wonderful apricot / 22646 posts
Yep, taxis, subway, bus...during our travels and our visits to NYC and Chicago to see family and friends!
persimmon / 1345 posts
Only on vacation.
We are suburbanites and public transportation is only available for inside the city.
persimmon / 1270 posts
We live in NYC and take public transit (bus, train, ferry) all the time. LO took the train for the first time at 4 days old to get blood drawn. It was one stop and so much less stressful then putting the carseat in a cab for a less then one mile ride.
pineapple / 12053 posts
Yep, DD1 has been on planes, buses, trains and DD2 has been on a bus.
