Yep; got into a really bad accident junior year when I first got my liscense - car flipped multiple times. Skidded on black ice once, fortunately just crashed into snow. And then one fender bender last year.

Yes. It wasn't life threatening by any means, but I suffered from pain and migraines for 2 years afterward. It was a terrible experience.

Yep, 2. One involved a helicopter ride, the other a cracked rib. Fun stuff.

Sort of. A good friend of mine in HS lost control of his car while passing my sister and I in a no passing zone. While we didn't have any impact, we witnessed his. Unfortunately, he wasn't wearing his seat belt and was ejected from the car. He didn't make it.
Because of it, I am a seat belt nazi, and an overly anxious passenger...I don't think I'll ever be 100% comfortable in the car.

yes so many! my car was rear ended by an 18 wheeler and it was totaled but i was ok.
other than that i've been in another life or death accident - swerved across the entire freeway to avoid a stopped car in the left lane that i didn't see until i came right around a corner. drove off the freeway and broke down a fence and almost hit a tree. (many many cars involved in that accident)
3 more serious accidents where the air bag deployed (where i was a passenger). a police car slammed into our open car door during a high speed police chase. and a couple of minor accidents where we were rear ended.
i seriously think there have been so many times i could have died in my youth!

I've been rear ended twice, one of the times with J in the car, and when I was a kid, we got hit on our way to the zoo.

Several, ranging from fender benders to flipping my jeep and breaking the roll bars. Not any in the last 10 years, thankfully. (Knocks on wood)

I was rear ended (at a stop sign...) merging into a highway. I've had back problems since!

We were rear-ended on the freeway at a fairly high speed a few months before our wedding. (My lane had slowed to a stop due to people waiting to merge/lane ending due to construction. The driver behind us was reading directions and didn't see everyone slowing down/stopping). His air bag deployed, cars had to be towed (we were out of state) - it was a mess. I had pretty bad whiplash and had to go to PT 3x per week for months. It was so painful, but luckily I am fine now. Also, we were really fortunate our dog was in a seatbelt - I'm pretty sure she would have been killed otherwise. The dog bed she was sitting on in the backseat flew out from under her and hit the windshield!

4 of them. 2 my fault, 2 not my fault. 0 injuries, luckily! The worst one was when I was in college and I got sort of side-swiped I guess you'd call it. I was on a 35mph road that was 2 lanes in both directions and came up to a light that was turning red. Both I and the car in the lane next to me stopped because the light was going to be red before we got there. The car behind me apparently decided he thought he could make it through the light and sped up and tried to fit between our two cars (which were stopped. He didn't fit. So he wedged our cars into a 3-car-sandwich. Ugh.

Wow, you guys have some very dramatic stories! I've only been in one where I was driving - it was a week after I got my license. Guy ran a red light and smashed into me.

Two accidents in which I sustained serious injuries, one of them led to a month in the hospital & multiple surgeries. I have been in several minor accidents/ fender benders. Only one of the minor accidents was my fault and it was so mild they didn't even have any noticeable damage.

Neither were serious, but I was a passenger in a car twice when another car tried to merge into us because they didn't see us in the lane. Once was when I was in middle school or something, and in the back seat--a big truck side-swiped my parents' car on the highway. The other time was about 4 years ago, and it was a high school kid merging into my husband's car. That was less scary since it wasn't on the highway, but our dog (who was a puppy then) was in the backseat and I freaked out about him being hurt, but he was fine, I think he barely noticed!
Oh, and my mom once rear-ended someone with me in the car. No one was hurt though!

I got hit by a car while I was in a crosswalk. Head busted the windshield whole left side of my body smashed into the car flew about 10ft...luckily only broke my foot and minor road burn and a lot of bruising

3.
1. as a passenger with my mom. A guy jumped in front of us at a red light and we didn't have time to stop.
2. I was not able to see because of the low sun and I rear ended a girl who stopped for a pedestrian. I was getting ready to get her my insurance and I just started bawling my eyes out. She felt so bad and said "it's no big deal, honestly I don't even see damage" to which I responded "nope, right there, you see that mark and that mark. That was all me". Haha worst move ever! Never did hear from her insurance though. She prob thought i was crazy!
3. With my husband driving. A girl lost control of here uninsured truck and drove right into the driver side of my husbands truck. Her truck was totalled, but our truck (a big ancient hunk of metal) only sustained minor denting.

@Mrs. Taco: That is horrible. I'm sorry about your friend. It's been 17 years since my car accidents and I am still afraid of being in cars. I don't think that will ever change, so it's a great thing I live in a city where you don't need a car to get around.
@Mrs. Bee: Wow! That's scary stuff.

I was rear ended a few years ago.

Yes, I was pretty scared to drive afterwards!

Yup. The worst was when the car ran into a building. I was the passenger. We both walked away with minimal injuries though.

the biggest one i was in involved a 6 car collision. i was the 3rd car... it was horrible.

Yes, too many. I got into 3 in less than a month. The first an old man ran a red light and t-boned me, then in the rental truck (my Mom was driving) we were rear ended, then I turned in front of a truck on a corner and hill. The last was a bad one, totaled my car, my ex-mil's tailbone, my ex-husbands ankle in 4 places, and ruined his navy career. It sucked.
Then s couple years later a semi truck totaled my suv in a subdivision, the latest was a parking lot fender bender.

Yep. a handful of them. Only one really bad one, I was alone, a car side swiped me and drove off, I did a 180 and totaled my car on the freeway.

3 as well
1. HS senior had my license 4 months and during an ice storm i fishtailed, spun, hit the curb and flipped my Jeep Cherokee on to a lawn. No injuries, totaled the car.
2. Just started working full time and was commuting home. Guy next to me had medical "emergency" and changed lanes into the passenger side of my Geo Prism and spun me around. No injuries, totaled the car only because it was only worth like 2k.
3. This past summer while 6 months pregnant i was making a left and this guy blew threw a yellow/red light and crashed into the front end of my Kia Soul. No injuries but i got an ambulance ride to the hospital for 4 hours of observation and the car was fixed after 7 weeks in the body shop.
My husbands Dodge Charger was hit parked in front of our house on a sunday morning ramming into the telephone pole out front - that one was totaled as well.

A few. Some when I was younger and some as an adult. I've only been at fault once, even though it should really be zero. My body was telling me to stay off the roads that day and yet I defied it and went out any way.
grapefruit / 4923 posts
yes. after correcting too hard, i drifted across the lane divider in the snow and got hit by a mac truck. somehow i was okay. it happened about 20 years ago and it still scares me.

Yeah, someone decided last-minute to get off on an exit ramp I was already on and they tooootally sideswiped my fancy 1994 Geo Prizm. It was totaled. I was (and still am, I loved that car) devastated.
kiwi / 656 posts
Only one which ended up in broken bones. I was a passenger and we rear ended someone at 60mph. Airbag broke my wrist in 2 places.
