@Mrs. Jump Rope: I would totally have been more excited about the NPR thing than the TV thing.
@Blueberry: That's terrible! Is your brother okay now?

Yes! I was in a some random commercial/promo thing they made for one of the HBO channels. They needed a gospel choir and I was in the choir.
And this wasn't on TV, but as a child, I was hired to be one of the voices for a popular kids' Christmas cassette. (basically just a bunch of little kids singing original songs about Santa)

I've only been on as part of a crowd.
My friend was on an MTV reality show and they filmed a few conversations we had. Super awkward and thankfully it never aired.

I worked in Marketing right out of college and a PR firm we worked with needed someone for an attorney commercial. They paid me like $500 for a few hours of shooting so I did it.... It was a terrible skit for a personal injury attorney...SO BAD. SO BAD. Something like a guy was trying to pick me up at a bar and I had some cheesy line and had to recoil in disgust, and then it cut to the attorney with his corny schtick, but I can't remember the details. Oh just that it was terrible. But I got $500.
And a few people recognized me from it and I wanted to die because it wasn't anything that anyone would ever want to be recognized for.

I was a Jeopardy contestant a while back, so I guess that makes it 22 minutes of fame

I was part of the color guard when I went to the Rose Bowl Parade in high school.

I was on a local public access channel kids show when I was 7 or 8. I filmed a very set up commercial for MTVu as part of a casting opportunity. My favorite is that I was an unseen, unpaid extra in a very large crowd shot for the Bond movie Quantum of Solace scene that took place in Italy.
But really the better stuff is podcast and NPR interviews I have done for my work - much more fulfilling stuff and I don't have to worry about how I look!

@jedeve: I actually did! It was a question about Bastille Day, so luckily I was able to call upon my middle school French class knowledge.

I was on the Price is Right in Jr.Hs., and was interviewed on the news during college. I worked with a non-profit and filmed a segment for national broadcast, but it never aired.

In elementary school, I was in a campaign commercial for our former governor, and in college, I was in the audience for Wheel of Fortune.

I've been on a bunch, always in the background.
Jimmy kimmel, TRL, farmclub, music videos, Friday night lights, Friday the 13th, The OC etc.

@lady baltimore: he has permanent nerve damage in his left arm, part of his back and neck but otherwise he is great! He was at a red light when an escalade full of teens pulled up next to him and unloaded so he still gets nervous at stop lights. (This happened back in 2009).. It really did a number on our family emotionally. It was such a senseless crime.

A couple times. I organized and led a big anti-war rally back in 2003 and was up on a large monument speaking, which made the news. I've also been on some news segments for some charity work (not interviewed, just featured). Oh, and in my early 20's I (well, just my butt and thighs, really) were the happy "after" shot of a diet pill infomercial (haha, all it was was me jumping into a pair of jeans now that I was skinny from the pills )
My husband is on the news *a lot* leading up to any election season, and on our local NPR stations a few times a week too.

I was on the news once as a kid (we had a school trip to meet the local pro baseball team and for some reason, in the 80s that was newsworthy).
About 7 years ago, my interior design work was on a PBS special. There was no footage of me however (and I'm glad lol)

I've accidentally been in the background a few times when I was working big events with multiple cameras and couldn't get out of sight lines. And I was in the credits of a recent PBS documentary, which I thought was funny because I was only doing my job!
I went to antiques roadshow once and my appraisal wasn't filmed, but I caught myself waiting in line in the background.
DH got to cook with Emeril a few years ago. That was far more exciting than anything I've done. I'd much rather be on the other side of the camera.

@Blueberry: Holy cow! That's terrible! So glad that your brother survived. Not what you want to be on TV for!
We were part of a news broadcast once! We were at a wedding that was Phillies themed, and they had a World Series game that night. One of the bride's friends called the local TV station, and they came! So we were in the crowd as they panned over us!

@nanilani: No way!! DH is gonna take the test sometime next year. He's been talking about it for years!
Not TV, but TV-related! DH and I are extras in the Veronica Mars movie!

@MrsKoala: I came in second. Without pulling up J-Archive, I think I was about $800 off the lead after FJ.
@ineebee: He should take it next time it's offered! For years I assumed I should study more before taking the test but ending up taking it on a whim and look where it got me
cantaloupe / 6869 posts
@nanilani: I was 2nd as well! I was down a couple thousand at FJ (stupid buzzer) but was completely stumped for the FJ question. I was first after the first round so I take a lot of pride in that. It was so much fun!

My old high school's football team had a reality TV show on MTV for being the worst team in the country and, without getting into too many details, one of the kids they focused on is a friend of the family. So yeah, in a few background scenes. The show never got popular though thank god, it was super embarrassing and made my hometown look like trash thanks to most of the players on the team.

@MrsKoala: I should have practiced the buzzer more too! I made a comeback in DJ with a lucky category that I knew and the other contestants didn't, but I missed my DD. Technically that should have been enough to put me in first, but I'm sure the other players would've changed their FJ wagers accordingly anyway. I was more nervous to be on TV than I was to play the game, but it was still such cool experience!

My sister and I presented a check during local telethon when we were around 10. I was interviewed about my house being upside down for the local news.

I've been in the audience for a bunch of talk shows, if that counts.
Our local news was at the hospital on 12-12-12, the day after M was born. So they interviewed me while my husband held her and Santa came for a visit. I never saw the clip but I can only imagine how I looked in my bathrobe hours after giving birth!

Haha mine are embarrassing. I am in a serial joe music video... I imagine only Canadians know them. Annnnd when the Hills started airing here MTV Canada did a "hills after show". I auditioned and was on the panel for one epi. Got to ask LC a question on the phone haha. Alsoooo MTV canada did these "try" segments sponsored by orthotricyclene... (sp?) so me and my best friend applied. I was selected to try sky diving but was out of the country so we did break dancing. It used to air every commercial break and was MORTIFYING.

@mrs. wagon: yup! I got a Monique Lhuillier dress for $500, negotiated down from $550. HAHA! My husband thought I was INSANE when he saw the dress and didn't believe me when I told him our crazy story but my sister and bridesmaid was there and she took pictures! LOL. They had amsale bridesmaid dresses but nothing they liked which was too bad because I would have saved so much money! I spent more on the bridesmaid dresses than I did on my own wedding dress!
