Like with clippers? Any tips?
E's hair is starting to get out of control, and D asked me to cut it today. I don't want to spend $20 getting his hair cut if I can manage it myself...

I give LO horrible hair cuts. I only do it because i have to endure 10 minutes of screaming and crying if i take her to the salon.
Seriously, they are horrible. I try not to post too many hair pics on IG.

DH did with clippers. Maybe a month or so ago. We sat him in the high chair with a snack and DH did it with the longest setting (an 8 maybe? I know nothing about clippers). It came out great. Looked exactly the same just shorter/cleaned up.

Yes, and it was awful! DH doesn't want me to do it again... lol

I do, with clippers. I've been cutting DH's hair for years though. If you buy a clipper and use the guides, it's not too bad. I will use scissors for the front, a big number for the top (like 7 or 9) and fade to pretty short around the sides/back (like 2 or 3).

We buzzed our LOs head just last week. He's only 4 months and it was too random and crazy looking for me to handle anymore. He sat on my lap and DH used his clippers to shave everything on whatever the longest clip setting was.

Yes and it's tragic looking. Lo doesn't care so we will keep practicing. There are YouTube videos you can watch, but it didn't help us.

I do! I cut DH's too. I use a trimmer and scissors. I just YouTube whatever style I like their hair to look like and try to mimic the steps.
@lovehoneybee: you did a good job!

Well, we survived it. I think it would have gone a lot better if D had been here to distract, but I did my best with constraining him in the high chair with a bottle of milk and Super Why on the television.
Not horrible for my first time! I was hoping to keep it a little longer on top but he jerked and by the time I got it all evened out again it was super short. Ah well!
My baby looks so much older with short hair

@lovehoneybee: wow good job!
I did attempt to cut LO's hair too... it did not go well. Though I thought it wasn't bad... lots of people told me it was terrible...

I cut LO's hair with scissors. Poor kid has never had a 'real' haircut because I'm cheap, his hair naturally hides uneven cuts pretty well, and I don't want to spend that much time at the barbershop (his hair grows fast!).
Anyhow, I think you did a totally respectable job for a first effort! Clippers take some practice to master.

I have done LOs three "haircuts".
We have only cut her mullet area, and I used thinning shears, so pretty impossible to have it look like I screwed up! I don't think I would dare have tried with regular scissors!

@lovehoneybee: you did an awesome job! I think he has a personal mama hair stylist now.

Nice work! I have been cutting DH's hair for years and just gave DS his second haircut (he's 2). Since I only know how to cut one way, that's what he gets. I watched a few videos on youtube when I started doing DH. I do #3 clippers around the bottom (like below where a bowl would be if I did a bowl cut!), trim above that, and cut the top middle section a little bit longer. It is so hard to get them to hold still - last time we used the iPad, this time he tolerated it pretty well with just a book. But I had DH's help.

I cut DS's hair myself (with scissors). I just give him puffs and put him in front of the tv (we are normally a no-tv family so it's very "exciting" for him when he can watch) and he doesn't move a muscle.
