I always grow my hair super long and then chop it all off only to regret it. But I ALWAYS do it!
Until now. I'm going in for a cut tomorrow and I vow not to chop it. Cut a few inches, tidy up the layers, and call it a day.

I enjoy going from waist length to about an inch long and start again. Shock factor is awesome!

@babycanuck: One of the reasons why I like chopping off my hair is that I feel 5lbs lighter!

I haven't done it in a while, but I have done a Bob a few times and that was pretty drastic.

I do a major chop every 2-2.5 years, and donate the ponytail! Just did it in December, and love it!

I've it all off more than once...short enough to spike! D HATES it like that, though, so I don't do it anymore.

I chopped off around 8-9" after DD was born, but other than that, not really. Even then, it was only to my collar bone, so some people didn't even notice.

I just dyed my hair really dark and in a bob, and got bangs for the first time since 2000.

yes! I had it grown out to mid back and then chopped it to my chin! I didn't regret it though, but I do like it long.

@mrbee: is this an inside joke?
I watched Sliding Doors and loved that hairstyle. I tried to copycat. I worked in a salon in college and then babysat for two hairdressers, so my hair was changing all the time!

The most that I have ever done is about 3" off. I currently have an A-line bob.

I've pretty much had every hair cut, style, length, and color. Some of my diy high school and college experiments were pretty awesome. Awesomely regrettable, ha!

@Happygal: Nope, was just joking that most men prefer longer hair...

I cut almost 18 inches off my hair after thinking about it for a good 6 months. The next night my now-husband proposed so I immediately started growing it out. I was bummed I didn't get to enjoy my short hair. I could cut it again but I have yet to work up the nerve.

@Rubies: yes and I always regret it. I do not look good with short hair and I've finally accepted it.

I haven't sense my wedding but I keep my hair short now. Dh and I both prefer it short and out of the way! Plus long hair does nothing for my face shape.

I went from hair past my shoulders to a pixie cut the week after HS graduation. NOT a good look for mr, but I loved my hair that short.
I did the PWC too and went from mid-back to just past my chin, but I've grown it out again. Unlike most people I know, I wanted my hair longer for a baby, so I can put it in a ponytail. If I cut it short, then I need to style it and I don't have the time.

I chopped 15" off two years ago! Man it grows back fast, though! I don't regret it while it's short, but I dislike the in-between stage. I look best with either long or short hair, not that bob-length style.

I've had really long hair most of my life. When I was around... 15 I think? I chopped it off to chin length. Now it's down to my butt again lol.

Yes, but i haven't done it in a long time. Im thinking of doing it next week.

@mrbee: my hairdresser always asks me how my husband feels when I ask for a drastic cut, lol
I do this all the time! I've donated 15"+ a few times, at least then if I regret the cut I'll still feel good about it
My husband actually prefers my hair short - maybe because that's how it was when we met? It's too much work for me to maintain short hair these days, I need to be able to throw it in a ponytail.

Yep, I cut from down to the top of my pants to chin length.
Now I tend t keep it around collar bone length for the last several years.
