DD1 got sent home w/ a letter saying that a kid in her class has lice and that we need to be on the lookout for it.
Have you ever had to deal with it?

We had a similar scare a month ago or so, but luckily, he didn't get it.

No, thank goodness! I've gotten HFM, roseola, and pink eye, letters home though.

I'm simply terrified of lice and check my two year old like it's going out of style. Lol

LO1 with lice and LO2 with HFM??? Wine and lots of it.
I had lice (on top of chicken pox) as a kid. My mom still bitches about it to this day. I hope the treatments are better now.

We had a scare at my school last year. It was actually in one of my classes! I was told by a friend/dr to wear my hair up with lots of hairspray. Not sure if that's a real way to protect yourself or just something that was said to calm me down since I had to be all not freaking out as the teacher hahaha
But I also didn't get lice. However, the kids who did told me that the treatments weren't so bad...not sure how their parents felt though!

I saw ONE critter in her hair one night, and then searched for more. I couldn't find any, but we bought lice shampoo and tea-tree oil shampoo just in-case. I treated her and have been using the teatree oil 1-2 times a week since, and haven't seen anymore critters

@BabyBoecksMom: Use coconut shampoo! I am a teacher and use coconut shampoo (with real coconut) because it repels lice.

One of the girls in my DD's ballet class had two lice found on her. I bought practically the entire Fairy Tales line at Target (tea trea and rosemary for repelling lice). She shampoos with it every evening for prevention, and I have the lice treatment in case I need it (hopefully not). We also keep hair in a ponytail most of the time.

We had one last year at my kids' preschool. It happened to be 2 sisters so one was in my son's class, and the other was in my daughter's class. The school didn't allow the sisters to come to school until they were completely cleared of both lice and nits. Every child's head was checked at school for the week and the school put away all their soft toys and dress up clothes. I was worried for a minute until the director explained all the precautions they were taking.

My little sister had lice 2 maybe 3 times when we were in elementary school. It wasn't too bad and it never spread to anyone else in the house. My mom treated her and washed all her stuff and everything and it was fine.

LO (3.5y) was checked today, after itching at her head. She's got it. I never had it, but am not finding it fun. I've not seen any live lice on her head, just nits. We did the treatment tonight, including combing her hair for well over an hour. And lots of laundry to make sure her bed is cleared. She's most upset about not having her normal blankets and stuffed animals.
