Not shellfish but the "normal" meats... Beef, chicken, pork. Do you know anyone allergic to these and if so what kind of reaction do they have?

Yes...& no. When I hear allergic I immediately think hives and swelling but this girl's reaction was not that.
My friend is allergic to chicken. She gets stomach pains and troubles and vomits every single time she has it. Her doctor told her she's allergic based on the # of times she has gotten so very sick after eating it.
It was even to the point that she ate pasta at my house that I had boiled in some chicken broth and she said she would be fine, but within minutes she was arched over in pain and eventually vomited.

I guess this isn't a true allergic reaction, but my sister lacks the enzymes to digest beef so it makes her super sick.

DS's aunt on his dad's side can't digest animal proteins, but I'm not sure about why that is.

My SIL is seriously allergic to pork! When her sons eat something like a piece of bacon and don't wash both their hands and faces after and kiss her she'll end up with lip-shaped welts on her cheeks!
She likes to joke that if she has a terminal disease or knew for sure the world was ending she was going to eat as much of a big plate of bacon as she could as fast as she could.

I get hives when I eat duck! Wow I have heard that chicken is really low on allergens. Didn't realize that people could be allergic to it!

I'm a vegetarian, and my (initial) main reason for becoming one was because almost all of the times I was sick as a child was after eating meat! (sick = throwing up) Not sure if it was a true allergy or not, but I developed an aversion and gave up pork and beef first at age 9, quickly followed by chicken. Turkey and seafood didn't bother me, but I eventually gave those up too in my teens.

I know someone who became allergic to all meat (except chicken) after he got a tick bite- apparently it's becoming more and more common.

I had my allergies re tested in May. Fish, pork, chicken and beef all came back as low-moderate sensitivity. Granted I have not eaten meat since I was 12, which might affect it but I always remember as a kid not liking it and feeling sick after.

A coworker has a family member who cannot have any beef products at all. Not sure how sick he gets, but enough for a teen boy to give up steaks. I feel sorry for the poor kid because he used to love steak, but he knows it's better for him in the long run to just skip it.

A friend of mine started breaking out in massive hives every time he ate chicken recently (had been previously eating it for 20+ years with no issues), and he was eventually diagnosed with a "late onset poultry allergy." It sucked for him!
