I want to get one for my LO's first birthday since we will have a handful of 3-6 year olds at the party!
Did you rent one? Hit or miss?

@autumnlove: we didn't rent it separately but a big bounce house was included in my LO's play gym party and it was a HUGE hit! The little ones loved it and the bigger kids (3-6) loved it too. Another big hit was a person who did face paint - she did really simple stuff and painted it on their hands or face...like a butterfly, frog, cupcake, hearts, balloons, etc
My neighbor rents one for her kids party in the summer and it's always a big hit too!

@autumnlove: you prob won't even see the kiddos the whole time at the party BC they will be in the bounce house ;). Pierce makes everyone take him on the bouncer slides a 10000 times lol.

I rented one for DS's 1st birthday - not really for him, but for all the other kids who were going to be there. Huge hit for the kids AND parents - as one friend put it, its like a cage for her kids and she actually got to enjoy the party!
I'll consider doing it again next year if I see a Groupon even though DS is so not interested.

They are super popular here. For some reason Little Boy doesn't like them, but I have been to enough parties to know he is an anomaly and most kids Love them.

Yes and they've always been a hit - especially with the 2+ set. {I think the little-little ones get scared and overwhelmed.}
@mamimami: They usually pick them up late in the evening, so once it gets dark my DH and his friends play in it too.

We thought about renting but ultimately bought one for $200 instead and he bounces on it in the garage all the time. Best purchase. It would have been $150 to rent and we could only use it once.

@T.H.O.U.: Costco sometimes sells them, a little smaller than the ones you rent, but they are basically the price of the rental.
@autumnlove: Anytime I've seen a bounce house at a party, it has NEVER sat empty. They are always a hit!

We've been to a couple of parties with bounce houses. My son won't go in them. He's not at all shy or overly cautious, so I think maybe it has to do with the generator noise and enclosed space. Other kids clearly love them, so if you want one, go for it, but it would be nice to have another activity too.
