Oh yeah. I exclusively wrote on an Underwood in high school-- some of my best stuff, probably. Wish I still had it. I'd love to crank out a short story on that beast!

Yes! We had one that I used for school assignments before we used the computer very much. Thankful we no longer have to deal with deleting issues (especially when it was on a previous line!!!)

My mom used to have one at her work so I would play with it.

@shopaholic: That was the worst! Haha, I would always manually roll up too much and it would be uneven!

Yep. Used a type writer to fill out all of my college apps! Kids these days have it so easy!

I got a job in a medical office when I was 19...5 years ago (this century) and the lady asked me to write out letters to patients using a typewriter. Um, I was like "who the eff do you think I am?!?" It took me the whole work day to write, like 5 letters. I was so terrible that she moved me to filing. Thank the Lord

One of my HS jobs was in an office that required that purchase orders be typed on a typewriter--luckily there were not very many that I had to do!

@chopsuey119: me too! Had to use white out. Remember that?
I had to take typing class in high school on a typewriter. It was so hard! I really thought I was gonna fail but then I discovered there was something wrong with my typewriter. The teacher would not believe me and thought I just sucked. Finally my typewriter broke so I got another one and did not fail! Lol.

I remember banging around on one at my Dad's office in 1992. We have one at work now that gets regular usage because we have a card catalog that is updated regularly.

Yeah we had to take a typewritting course in HS. We had just gotten a "new" computer lab & we were "upgraded" to windows 95 but our instructor insisted on us typing our final report. This was in 99-00.

When I started writing (for fun), I bought an old typewriter, and would sit in my room, cranking out pages and pages of (probably terrible) fiction. Loved that typewriter.

I think a couple of times outside of school. We also had typewriters for typing class in junior high...1992ish. Learning to type is definitely better on a typewriter...lots more pressure!

During my first job when I was fifteen they asked me to address envelopes using a typewriter. The owner just about died laughing when I came to get her fifteen minutes later because I couldn't figure out how to make it work (I did not expect to need to turn it on!) After I finished I promptly created a database so I could just print the things off the computer in the future!
