We have a coffee table although its not a huge piece of furniture it is smack dab in the middle of the living room and takes up a lot of space! Since LO's stuff is everywhere too and our living room is really small and we have no space! I'm considering getting rid of the coffee table! Just curious what others have done to free up this space?

Yup! We replaced it with a Thomas & Friends train table!

when we started TTC, we got rid of our wooden ikea coffee table and bought a big square ottoman. it's storage and padded, so it won't cut any heads open (ha, this happened to my brother when we were little).
it takes up a lot of space (roughly 3' by 3') but its fine.

I'm thinking about getting rid of ours. In fact, I'm thinking about getting rid of most of the furniture in our front room (we have a love seat, 2 Ikea poang chairs, and a coffee table). We never sit in there, and it would be a good space for LO to play in. It's something we'll have to discuss as he gets older, I guess.

No, we still have ours (DD is now 16 months) but we baby proofed it!

We replaced it with two soft storage ottomans. It works well -- no safety risk for LO, good toy storage, and easy to move out of the way.

We did! We don't really have a lot of toys there, but it was just a place for her to hit her head so we felt it would be safer to move it out of the way for now. Instead we have one of those foam mats with the letters that she can sit and play with.

No, luckily we have a big living area. Our coffee table is also a padded one/ottoman so it's perfect for kids.

We got rid of ours a week or 2 after she was born. It was glass and it took up a lot of space. It never would have worked out. My twin 2 year old cousins came with their mom to see LO when she was born, and they had us so nervous banging on it and running around! It was gone the next day

We put all our end tales and coffee tables in our garage but it wasn't for space it was because I couldn't go to the bathroom without the boys jumping off of them or turning them over and making a slide out of them. It was just easier to get rid of them.

We still have ours. We've had enough room for it so far but I would like to replace it with an ottoman. DS is 12 months old and can reach all but the center of the table. We don't even use it that much because he can pull everything off.

Well our LO will be here this month and we don't plan on getting rid of it anytime soon. It is the most used little piece of furniture! I use and clean that thing daily!! We eat on it too (well until we replace our table and chairs which are just not so comfy.) But I think when she can walk we'll get a new set of table/chairs (more baby/kid friendly, ours are too tall now) and get something like @sorrycharlie mentioned.

We have two glass and metal coffee tables at the moment. Those skull crackers are definitely moving when baby arrives!

Yup we got rid of it. Our living room is pretty bare now but I love how less cluttered it feels.

No, I picked it out because it was kid friendly. It's a low, rustic handmade table with rounded top edges. It's totally solid and super heavy. One of my better antique shop finds!

We pushed ours against the wall and it kind of acts as storage. And when people come over we put it out. But lately we've put our little ikea kids table and two chairs in the middle of our living space. It's a great height for our laptops and drinks, and every now and then we'll let wagon jr eat dinner sitting there in front of the tv.

Yes! We got rid of it when our oldest was about 20 months old. It was glass and she kept pushing it and making the glass fall on the metal part. We replaced it with her "tiny table" which is a kiddy sized table and chairs. I love it!

We replaced ours with an ottoman, and it is functional & kid friendly. I didn't have to worry anymore about LO bumping into the table.

Put it in the basement. It was just in the way, and tended to collect only things that LOs shouldn't have access to, and of course, it's at the perfect height for that.

we totally moved it out of the since he's been crawling and bumping up against things.

We moved it into the corner and got an area rug for LO. Not crawling yet but is rolling all over the place.

No, but we moved it to the side to have more space in front of the couch.
eta: ours are two storage cubes from Pottery Barn, so we use them to corral all the toys when people come over, so there was no way I was getting rid of them, lol.

I came across this thread after thinking we might need to get rid of our squared glass coffee & side table.
we use them so much but I guess we'll need to start looking for a storage ottoman.

We have a rounded edge coffee table, so we aren't planning on getting rid of it... we'll see when LO is mobile (she's only 3 months now)!

Am I a failmom because I have no intention of getting rid of our coffee table? She can play around it, and hopefully she just won't bonk her head on it.
