We have to go to my inlaws next weekend and our little guy is 3 months old, so... many people have not seen him yet and on top of it every time we go there everyone is always hoarding him..... what do you do to help this situation?? Not that i don't want to share him..i just don't want him being passed around to everyone the entire time. (mind you we dont care for my DH's family too much 
) Suggestions please?

Is it because you don't like them or because your LO gets upset?...I have no problem taking E back if she's upset but otherwise, I just enjoy the break and have a beer because great grandmas and such aren't around much

Babywear/carrier! Worked like a charm for me on Thanksgiving with my huge in law family. Definitely worth the investment in a carrier if you don't have one - we love our Baby Bjorn.

Baby wearing! Or just saying, "Okay, mommy misses her baby!" and taking him back. When they inevitably whine about how you get to hold him all the time just say, "Yep, I also went through pregnancy and labor, wake up all night with him, get up at all hours of the night, and all of the other not fun stuff, but it balances out with getting to cuddle him as much as I want to!" Or you can just make it sweet and short - "Yep, that's because I'm the mom."
With DH's family I sometimes make him handle it though.

Babywearing. When DH's family see's DD, they'll keep her even if she's screaming and when I try to take her back, they tell me that she needs to get use to them

Last year my LO was 2 months old at Thanksgiving and I just wasn't into my newborn being passing around the whole time. I put her in the carrier "so she could nap." Of course she was still passed around a few times but it wasn't as much as if I hadn't worn her for a few hours. I also said I needed to check her diaper and changed her in an upstairs bedroom away from the crowds... I needed the breaks as much as she did!

@HLK208: ooh I want to hurt people like that! It's unbelievable selfish to purposely keep a baby in unnecessary distress, all crying and upset, because of what the adult wants. Grow the eff up and play with her from the parent's lap until she is comfortable with you, people!

My first was 6 weeks old at his first Christmas so I worried about this too! Between nursing him, diaper changes (which I did in a different room and enjoyed the break!) and having him sleep in the moby wrap it wasn't too much of an issue. I definitely recommend using a carrier of some sort!

I'm following this for advice for next time, I was super overwhelmed by baby hoggers during LO's newborn phase.

J was home from the hospital 3 days before Christmas. We accepted visitors but I kept him close in a sling carrier. And took many nursing breaks.

I don't mind family hogging the baby. It's a break for me! If he cries, I take him back. Other than that I enjoy being able to eat and socialize!

If my Los were content I was fine with it. If they got upset then I'd take them back and calm down. I also brought a baby blanket for her to wiggle on, no one wants to step on a baby blanket so usually it gave them a bit of space. And between diaper changes, nursing and naps there's not a ton of time. But I was fine with people, especially family, visiting with baby when they're awake and happy.

I was never able to avoid it so I just made everyone wash their hands, and let it go.

My little man was 3 months at Xmas and he was passed a lot, but it was fine! I was happy for the break in between nursing honestly! If you're worried about germs just ask everyone to wash their hands and be cautious.

I've done the same as @daniellemybelle. It's unavoidable in my family. I just asked people to wash their hands and my mom and sister really helped enforce the "rule." I agree with others that it's kind of a nice break!

I would just prepare myself ahead of time for the possibility...if LO is upset absolutely just take him back, but other than that i would just require hand washing first and try to go with the flow. It is only for a day. If I disliked the family so strongly that I didn't want them holding LO, I would just skip the party altogether.
