With my other 2 kids, we didn't do anything cute or clever and just was like "Hey guess what? We are having a baby!" This might very well be our last so I thought it would be fun to announce in a cute way/creative way.
I am super, super nervous about telling my dad. He is a huge worrier and will probably freak out. Everyone else will be happy and excited though. My in-laws are divorced and dad lives here and my mom lives out of town so we'll have to tell them all 4 separate times.

I did a shirt for DD1 to announce DD2 on my mom's birthday...but I'm not super great at the surprise thing. And DH can't keep pregnancy a secret to save his life. He is not close with his family at all, but somehow they all know within seconds

@Mrs. Sunshine: I'm not great at the surprise thing either. My mom will be really excited so I want to find a fun way to tell her. For my MIL, it will be her 7th grandchild and her health is not very good so I also want to tell her in a fun way too. I've been looking on pinterest but I feel like there are so many cheesy ideas now and it's almost easier to just tell.

This is sort of cliché, but we were ready to announce right around my dad's birthday. So, I wrapped up an ultrasound photo in a frame and let him open it as his birthday gift. We invited my MIL over at the same time so everyone found out together. My sister was there too, but I tipped her off in advance because I thought she would prefer that.
My dad looked super confused for several seconds. He just stared at the frame like he could not figure out what it was for. Then my mom asked, "Is that what I think it is?"

We tried to get LO1 to announce it but he got stage fright and hid. But I think that would be fun if your older LO's are not too shy.

I like the ones where you tell everyone you're taking a picture but really you're rolling video and then instead of "say cheese" you tell them the news!

We did a photo shoot with our older announcing #2. She held two signs. One said I'm being promoted to big sister. The other said pink or blue? Either will do, mom's expecting number two.

I like the photoshoot idea and asking what they think about some professional pictures you got taken or something. Options:
1. Your kids sitting beside a sign that has a 1 in a girl column and a 1 in the boy column and adding "tiebreaker coming September!" (@MrsKC just did this!)
2. Your oldest with a chalkboard that says "Big Sibling Training" dressed up like a teacher with your youngest sitting in a desk

@matador84: I would take a video of your other kids saying "Mommy's having a baby!!!!"
And then send it to them or if you see them in person just say "Oh look at this cute video of the kids"

We did them at Picture People, they aren't artistic photography, but they are "good" pictures. The prices aren't too bad if you stick to their basic package or just buy the CD and do your own thing.
We have access to my parents computer so set the photo as the computer wallpaper. Other family members received the photo via txt. We send photos pretty routinely by txt anyway.

@MamaG: that's cute! Not scared I'm just needing to announce soon to parents because I'm very visibly pregnant at 8 weeks and need to get it off my chest and stop trying to hide it.
Thinking maybe we'll do something about a tiebreaker coming (I have a b/g) or middle being promoted to big.
