I'm pretty confident in the looks I picked out for E and I for our family photo shoot, but I'm kind of stuck on DH. I don't mind this look, but I'm not sure if it's just all too matchy matchy. I need some help from the HB style gurus. Any suggestions on a different shirt for DH, or do we like this?

I, personally, do not like that shirt. It's almost pink....small checks....I will poke around to see if i find something I like better. I feel like you're toeing the line for red/white/blue/patriotic
what if you did a multi-colored scarf and then your DH's shirt matched the scarf more? I'm my derpy stage, I almost suggested green, ha.
eta: mustard would look nice.

Hmmmm.... what about changing the shirt to a navy sweater? That would go with your LO's darker jeans.

I think it looks nice and not TOO matchy since your DH's shirt has a pattern rather than solid. However I'm also a fan of coordinated colors rather than matching ones. Maybe something in blue? Or a tan/taupe-y color?

I like everyone's outfit separately, but somehow it's not working for me when they're together. It's almost too coordinated.
The shirt doesn't read pink to me, but I would probably swap it out for something else, OR change your color cardigan.

@blackbird: Yea, he has a green half zip sweater that I really like, but I didn't want to scream Christmas cheer.
@Mae: I was worried about going tan for his shirt and LO blending into him. Though the man does love his shades of brown.
@looch: That's exactly where I'm at. I like it all separately, but I don't know that it reads well all together. What color do you think for the cardigan?

What if you did a long sweater like this with your scarf? And maybe a dark brown or navy sweater for DH? Or a colorful scarf like this other one?

@blackbird: I really like the colored scarf idea. Solids are just my default, my closet is seriously half solid black.
What about a sweater like this over the checked shirt? Or would it look better to ditch the checked shirt altogether.

@kiddosc: It depends on how dark the jeans are. The ones in the photo would look good with a navy sweater but if the jeans are as dark as LOs jeans in the top photo, then I'd go with a gray.

@kiddosc: Do you have any chunky knit cardigans? Something with a little more weight to it? I would probably do something in camel, it wouldn't match with your son's sweater (which I think is the point) and it would still go with everything.
I would be tempted to do a printed scarf, though!

@kiddosc: As a photographer, I just wanted to say that sometimes small-scale checks/plaid can sometimes read really busy in photos. I usually recommend clients wear solids or large-scale patterns!
I like this Gap sweater over the red shirt you picked for hubs. I'd keep everything else the same. I see nothing wrong with being a little matchy - I think it will read nicely in photos!
