Here's the backstory... sorry for the length!
LO (6 months now) was a GREAT sleeper until about 4.5-5 months. She would only wake once to eat, then right back to sleep. Then, something changed. Regression maybe? Here is what our nights look like now:
She will sleep 2 hours, then wake up. She will be awake for approximately 1.5-2 hours, then back to sleep. She will wake up every 30-45 minutes for the rest of the night. If we are lucky, we will get one more 2 hour stretch.
Here is what we have tried (don't judge!):
CIO: worked great for getting her to sleep initially. She can put herself to sleep at bedtime, but no matter how long we let her cry, she has not figured out how to put herself to sleep after a wake-up.
Pick up-put down: we tried this for the night wake-ups, and it was marginally better than CIO. She still wakes every 30-45 min, but will go back to sleep quicker.
Lovey: we have established a lovey, but I am still scared to let her sleep with it. I did give it to her a few times (while I watched on the monitor), and she seemed to be trying to soothe herself during wake-ups, but she was ultimately unsuccessful.
I guess I should mention that she does use a paci, and she can almost put it in independently if she can find it after it falls out. There are 5 in her crib, just in case!
I just don't know where to go from here, but this sleep is not sustainable. I am not opposed to night feedings, but I don't think that she is *that* hungry. I have been nursing her, but not before a set time. I still think it is mostly comfort at that time, so I am confident that I'm not starving her.
Help! Suggestions? What other methods are out there? What am I doing wrong?
