Can anyone take a look at this and offer a suggestion for me? This doesn't look right but I am having a fit getting it tighter because of the gray grippy things. It has the click and safe feature and it clicks when I pull on it.

Can you pinch the straps and get fabric between your fingers?

Also, I find it helps when I tighten mine that I buckle the crotch and then pull it tight across the legs (just get the slack out). Then I do the chest clip but keep it low. I tighten as much as I can and then slide the chest clip up again. And then give it one more try to tighten.
Note: I don't have a click tight though.

Can you remove those shoulder pads (I don't know the formal name for them, sorry)? It looks like the grips are hitting up against them.
I also kind of thread the straps into the holes in the back when I am pulling up on the crotch strap. It's a process, we have the same seat.

I have a Britax Boulevard Clicktight, and when LO was smaller, we had to take off the gray hugs pads. I am going to put them back on soon (she is almost a year).

@Cole: you can even pull the grey grippy things down a bit just make sure the chest clip is still at armpit level that may help. As long as it passes the pinch test at the shoulder, it is good though.

I removed those gray chest pads on my marathon click tight to get a better fit on my 13 month old. The manual said they aren't required until forward facing.

Can you pinch the straps on the shoulders? If the shoulders are tight then it is OK if there is a gap over the belly.

I second T.H.O.U's suggestion of moving the chest clip up after using the click tight.

@T.H.O.U.: Thank you! I will give that a try. I can pinch but only barely so it's close but not perfect.
@kiddosc: That is good to know, I can barely pinch but I assumed having a gap over the belly was a no no. I am going to work on getting rid of that bit of slack
@looch: I need to figure that out, rereading the manual is my next step. I love the shoulder pads because she can rest her cheek on them but the great grippy things are a pain.
@LovelyPlum: which are the hugs? The grip or the pads? Thanks!
@abbydabbydoodlebug: That's good to know, thanks! I think that would help.
@yellowbird: looking at the pictures again I think you're right, I am going to try and make sure they are all the way down before I buckle her in.
