We are buying a house and will slowly update. We just went to lowes to look around and everything is sooo expensive! Is there anywhere to go for deals?

What kind of projects will you be doing?? You would be surprised at what you can find on Craigslist. Check stores for a discount section, maybe a paint color they didn't mix right but is still pretty. Display items are always cheaper. Carpet stores almost always have "scrap" pieces big enough to cover an entire room. Our biggest help was getting different estimates, there was a hardwood I liked at one store so I went to another store that showed me a verrry similar product for half the price. We got probably 3 people togive us painting estimates and went with the cheaper one. Another trick we used was calling in favors..we have a friend who has an aunt that worked at the carpet store and got a family discount and don't be afraid to tackle stuff on yoir own! There is a tutorial for everything online somewhere!!

If you use big box stores like Lowe's, they will price match other stores and beat it by 10%!

We get most of our stuff at Menards.
We just built our house and did the majority ourselves. We ordered our bathroom vanity off of ebay... & waited for deals and sales before buying things.

That is great to know about lowes! I just can't believe how expensive everything seems. I need to look online for some good places/items!
