Are there any bees that bought houses that needed tons of renovations...while pregnant or with kids? What has been your experience?
A little doubt is starting to creep into my head about taking on a house that will be such a big project. I definitely prefer the look of older homes but I wish this was something we started before 1.5 kids!
I had a dream about a turn key tract home last night! And this is why I am posting about homes at at 4:40 AM!

Yes, we did some home renos a few months ago, nothing too huge, but it definitely made me weary of doing our major renos. It's definitely a pain to deal with while you're living in the home. Can you do them before you move in?

I think it totally depends on the amount and type of work needed. We have done a lot of wall paper stripping, floor laying, and painting before LO was here. Now that she is here, we have done some landscaping but not much else.
Most of it comes down to having the money for us. We have a lot of projects we could tackle if we had 100 hours to get it done but we both work FT so for a lot of projects it makes more sense to hire out.

We've had some stuff done, like a new roof. When people are working on the house I try to take LO out, it gets hard when it's a long project. My mom lives close so I can just take her there, but even that's hard because I have to pack up all of her crap and I have my dog, plus she just naps so much better at home.

@Andrea: I think we can do some...ceilings, windows, paint, pool gate, carpet before we move. Kitchen, bathrooms, yard and exterior will prob have to wait!
Just made an appointment to see some new tracts! I don't think I'll like the small yards but you never know!
