The hospital where I plan to deliver does hospital tours. My midwife gave me all of the information to set up the visit, but didn't tell me when I should do this tour. Does it make sense to do it earlier (first tri) or later on (3rd tri)

I'm doing my tour in the next couple of weeks and I'm in my second trimester. I wanted to do it in the first trimester but I felt like I was jumping the gun a little, so I waited.
I think you should do the tour whenever you feel comfortable doing it.

Our hospital wouldn't allow us to even sign up for a tour until we were 4-6 weeks from our due date.

Our birthing centre does tours every Sunday afternoon. I've been antsy to go do ours for a few weeks now, but other mom's I've talked to haven't gone until much later. We'll probably go sometime in the next couple weeks because I'm curious. (I'm 23 weeks)

When I did mine, everyone was in the third as it was part of the birthing class.

Capital Health runs all the hospitals here, and they offer free pre-natal courses to parents. One of them is a full Saturday morning visit to the hospital. We're already signed up for January. that's the third trimester for me.

We are planning on doing ours in the third trimester or around when we are doing the other classes like CPR and birth prep.

Our hospital requested that the tour be done by 30 weeks. I would say right around 30 weeks was early enough. Any earlier and we might have remembered all of it.

I did mine early third trimester. I was surprised though because most of the other women looked like they were ready to go into labor the next day.

I had the tour of the midwifery at my consultation appointment for my first birth. It is a house that was turned into a birthing center so it isn't big at all. I plan on looking at all the changes they have done over the last few years when I go in for my first appointment in a couple weeks.

I think we will do one (even though I work at the hospital - it will be for hubby's benefit) when we do prenatal classes in the early 3rd trimester.
