DH and I are looking for a house and I am losing hope. DH owns the condo we live in now and we are planning on renting it out when we find a house since we can't sell it in this market. We have been looking for 2 months. We found one that we put an offer on and we got out bid. I am still sad that we didn't get that house. We looked at one tonight, so cute online and in person is was so much small and needs a ton of work.
How long did it take you to find your house??

It took us two months of aggressive hunting before we got our house. But before our house, we put in offers (but was outbid) on three houses.

We looked for two months before we found our house. We got very lucky. The day after the seller signed our contract someone tried to put in an offer higher than ours.

it took us a long time. we weren't in a rush, so we looked for at least a year before we found the perfect one. if you don't have a deadline, don't settle! take your time to find one that you love.

We looked aggressively for about 3.5 months before we found our house and the offer was accepted.
We weren't really in a time crunch, so we were really picky and made sure we got the best deal we could.

We found a dream starter home a few weeks when we began our search, but we thought it was out of our price range. Plus, it was inventory the builder needed to get rid of so they priced it super low meaning it was buy it now or lose it. We weren't ready to commit and passed on it. We kick ourselves everyday for giving up that home. We searched for 5 months for our current home and had big plans on renovating it, but life happened and we don't love it anymore. We're ready to move out.

I think it took us 3 months or so to find our house. But our friends just bought a house and had been looking (non-aggressively) for about a year.
I think it all really depends on how hard you look and if your expectations are realistic for your price range. Our friends had a lower price range and kind of unrealistic expectations, so it was hard for them to find something they liked. We, on the other hand, had a higher price range (to match our expectations, haha), so it was easier for us.

It took us 3 months before we found one we loved, we were really picky, but out real estate agent never gave up on us so that was good!

We looked aggressively for about 3 months and it was the 4th house that we placed an offer on. It really was completely draining! I hope that you find “the one” soon!

We got pretty lucky. We bought the first and only house that we looked at. We did spend a lot of time looking online and driving by the houses, but we narrowed it down to this one house, went to look at it, and decided it should be ours.
