Um, I just realized this morning that I don't remember the last time we changed our sheets.
What household fails have you done/not done lately?

I finally cleaned our air conditioner filter a couple weeks ago right in the middle of the heat wave and it had about an inch thick of dirt and dust caked on. It was so bad I had to remove the entire face of the unit and clean the whole thing. The previous owners must have never cleaned it at all because this is only our 2nd summer here!

Apparently my hardwood floors are pretty dirty based on the state of the knees of M's pants!!

This is sooooo gross - don't judge me.
DH works nights so I am solo with DS. I had a 102 fever the other night with mastitis and was so tired I thought I'd change LO's diaper in the bed. Umm...yeah. He peed on the bed! I was too sick/exhausted to change the sheets so I threw a towel over it til morning. Fail.

@Modern Daisy: This reminds me we need to get our AC serviced. Our filter is in the middle of the unit, so we can't do it ourselves.
@grizz: I would have done the same thing. I slept in spit up multiple nights. I hate changing the sheets on the king bed.

@grizz: I always had a towel handy to throw over a "spot" on my bed. dh never did night wakeups (still doesn't) so I did what i had to! lol.

@grizz: girl, I would have done the same thing. Hope you're feeling better!
Yeah, sheets haven't been changed in awhile and neither have our bath towels. We're gross.

@Smurfette: Even worse, I just changed LO's crib sheet. I don't remember changing it in the last 2-3 weeks.

Uh, that's me, all the time, dude. I only recently washed our bedsheets because the baby threw up on it. Otherwise....it still wouldn't have gotten washed. Meh. We shower before bed.

@Modern Daisy: This reminds me to have our unit serviced. I bought a Groupon for it, but I definitely need to schedule it. I replaced our filters earlier this year, but I don't know if there is another one that I'm missing.

Umm. I have lived in my house over 3 years and have never really washed a window. I'm surprised we can still see out of them
pear / 1642 posts
@grizz: no judgement! I have definitely done this. A few times...
DH and I have been fishing clean clothes out of laundry baskets for a couple weeks because I hate folding clothes. Wrinkled? Meh, throw it in the dryer. Lol thank goodness we both have very casual workplaces!

@petunia354: Hah! We've been in our house for four and I've never washed a window!
I just cleaned our toilets this weekend but... it had been a while. They were gross.
And I'm kind of glad you made this post because it reminds me that we should wash our sheets too...

Ha. This thread also reminds me that Owen peed on our sheets like a week ago and then I went to work and forgot about it. Awesome!

@Petunia354: Oh my gosh... you have reminded me that I have not ever washed a window in our house either and it's been over 3 years. Fail.
I have never scrubbed the tub in our guest bath... I think it's only been used once or twice.... but still so gross now that I think of it.

@grizz: When LO spits up on the bed I do the same thing. Oops.
Our floors are a mess, we haven't done laundry (other than LOs) in awhile, and our lawn is a disaster.

The bathroom trash is overflowing and piled against the wall on top of the can. It's gross.
At least with our new part-time nanny, DH and I are incentivized to clean up a lot more!

@chopsuey119: @blackbird: @petunia354: @MrsRoo:
You are not alone!
Dishes frequently pile up, sheets get changed because my husband does it, 12 years in our house and windows have been washed once- 6 years ago, and laundry rarely gets folded or hung up.
I hate housekeeping. It doesn't bring me ANY satisfaction at all.

@MsLipGloss: That I change R's all the time, cause she spits up and drools so much. So my baby sleeps clean, just not Mom and Dad.
I am so glad so many other's forget to change their sheets.

Lately I've been forgetful of the wet clothes in the washing machine. Lots of rewashing going on to get that funk smell out.

We have a cleaning service that comes every 3 weeks. By the 3rd week we've got dust bunnies in the living room. Which I do nothing about because I pay people to do that, lol.

Me too on the sheets! My sink is full of dirty dishes, and so is my dishwasher (fell asleep on the couch last night). I have two broken laundry hampers and need new ones but have been too lazy to get some (anyone love their hamper? My old ones are from IKEA, cheapie)

I'm ignoring the laundry that is sitting in the dryer!

We just moved out of a rental and into our first home. The disaster that was (is) left has opened my eyes to how crazy dirty the place was while we were living there.
I think part of it was that we weren't as invested, part was that I put off things because I knew we would have to do them again on moving out, but part was just willful ignorance/laziness! Seeing how much dirt and pet hair was piled behind the couch, how much dust was on the blinds, how hazed the windows were has made me determined not to let this happen at our new house.
Of course I say this now, we'll see if I can stick to it in the long run. I know for a fact that one of the cats already threw up under the bed the night we moved in and now over a week later I have yet to move the bed and clean it up.

@Smurfette: We just moved, and left the sheets on the bed, haha. Your post just made me LOL.
After moving out of our apartment, we found a TON of pet hair behind and under the furniture. It was disgusting ... and made me want to be really aware of it in our new place.
bananas / 9357 posts
@petunia354: yikes, we've been in our house for 5 years and we've never washed a window. Oops. Just not something I think about. We never clean the blinds either.

Right now our bedroom is a catch-all for...well, everything. It's a cluttered mess. I should fix that today...I much prefer it to be a calm room, but it just hasn't happened. Too much stuff in too small an apartment. E's room is half storage right now too!

Ugh, so many household fails! I'm sleep deprived man, what do you expect??! I keep up with laundry, dishes and cleaning my pump parts. Sheets, vacuuming, windows, NO WAY! The kitty litter has also been sadly neglected a few times since LO was born. I have also (several times) not changed our sheets after spit up or pee incidents.

...my name is CharityAnne...and my shower is kind of disgusting now that I've admitted my problem maybe I can move on to the recovery process lol

@lizzywiz: I'm totally guilty of this one, too!
Our shower hasn't been cleaned in...well, I can't remember. A long while
GOLD / wonderful pea / 17697 posts
@grizz: I'm a little bit ashamed of how many times I just threw a hand towel or receiving blanket over a puddle of pee and went right back to sleep. Spoilers: it wasn't just once or twice.
