We usually put lo in summer clothes in the winter, but I layer. I'm in Florida so it's not too cold. Like ill put her in a dress with leggings under and a jacket, or if it's really cold (for us) ill put a turtle neck under the dress.

I'm having a winter baby so that will be different though.... Lo was a summer baby and wore onesies as a newborn. I'll have to buy the new baby some clothes even if it's another girl.

cold! but not as cold as yours i'm in MA, we usually have snow from late december to the end of february, but we've had snow as early as october and as late as april, ya just never know, we've also had april temps in the 90s! temps don't dip as low as yours either, it's generally below freezing dec-feb, but we don't usually see temps far below 0, but the wind chill can bring it way down so it certainly feels cold enough!

It doesn't get very cold for us. I think last year it was cold for about 2-3 weeks..... but no snow ever really. We will have to go on vacation for LO to ever see snow I'm sure. I was pregnant during "winter" and I got by with just cardigans over my normal clothes.

@mrs. bird: we don't make up days for delays! They cancel for really bad weather, like icy conditions, lots of snow or wind chills that will last all day.

Last year, our school district had one early dismissal bc of a snow storm. It was so bad that even my husbands work closed early!

Not very cold. We have cold spells, but nothing that lasts a long time.

-40 celcius. It's too hard for the buses to get running, haha! We don't make up our snow/cold days either...we'd be in school well into July if we did!

Very mild. Last year it was in the 40s and 50s all winter. We haven't had a real snow in 3 years!

I'll be the wild card here.... we are in the middle of winter here and the average temp is 30c (86F) Northern Australia!

i grew up in weather like mrs pen's too, so i understand the need to have all those different kinds of items -- and decent quality ones too, or else everyone will be MISERABLE during the intense weather :).

we live on the pacific west coast now, so it's way milder, and i'm glad i don't have to purchase snow suits and hard core boots for LO! until we go back east to visit family... hmm... hehe will try to borrow for those instances

Too cold in my opinion. I've never liked the snow.

Summers in the 80s-90 usually, while winter is below 20 degrees, sometimes -20 or -30. Often windy too so wind chill makes it colder. We have a big range!!

We're in Florida like @artbee. We have plenty of 80 plus degree days through December. Then in January and February, we might get a few nights down into the 20's, but then it will be in the 60'a during the day. A whole day that stays in the 50's is freezing to me. Overnight freezes are a huge deal here because of the citrus. And almost everyone owns plants that need to be covered in blankets because they aren't cold hardy. We all act very inconvenienced by anything under 30 degrees.

I'm dreading winter with a LO. We have long, typically cold/snowy winters. I don't mind the snow at all but the freeeeezing I do! I'd guess our average temp in the winter would be around -20 celsius but can get to -40 with the wind chill.

We've had days where it has been -50 celsius. But the norm for Jan-Mar is probably -25 celsius.

Temperature-wise, not too cold. It usually hovers in the mid-to-high 40s during the day and high 30s or low 40s at night. We rarely get snow (none last year, a couple dustings the year before). BUT it's so rainy and humid that it just feels raw -- it's the kind of weather that just creeps into your bones rather than the brisk, biting cold I remember from my days in the Northeast. And our weather has such a sameness to it from November to June, even though it's a bit warmer in the spring. I always get super jealous when I hear about May heat waves back east and wish they could send us a few of those extra degrees that they don't really need.

@Mrs. Pen: dang, that's cold! Around here, the coldest it gets is -18 F. But it's normally around 5 F. Our coldest month is Feb and snow usually doesn't come until December. It's surprisingly not too snowy. The really cold days is when there's no snow at all.

I had no idea how to dress for the cold. Before LO, I didn't really matter too much since I wasn't really out in the cold for long periods of time, but since she's starting daycare soon (and they'll be out playing everyday in ALL weather), I've had a crash course on layering. There's so much clothes! Haha!

I had a really hard time wrapping my head around all the gear - and I thank @lamariniere for helping me sort it out

BTW, I found that a brand from Finland has excellent cold weather gear (Reima) also Polarn o. Pyret is really good as well

It depends but usually frigid and lots of snow

The lowest we get is like 33 degrees. I only know this because I pray for snow every year haha

We're in winter right now (southern hemisphere obviously) and our average winter day time temp is 31....Celsius. Which converts to 88 Fahrenheit. Bloody frickin' hot here all the time.

We don't really have 'winter' so to speak - it's the Dry (winter) where it's 90 F and low humidity, and the Wet (summer), where it's mid-90s and high humidity. Guess who is super excited to be having a Feb baby, right smack dab in the midst of the Wet?!? Gah, I'm going to swell up like a balloon!

I miss snow and winter boots.
