I'm 5 weeks and have a horrible cough and cold. Does anyone have any suggestions on ways to get through it without taking meds? I've been using my neti pot and sucking on hard candy but I still feel like total crap.

@night cheese: I had a horrible cough/cold when I got by BFP. It was miserable. I drank a lot of liquids, and tried to get a lot of rest. My doctor said I could take Sudafed too if need be. Good luck!

I was constantly sick when I was pregnant. I toughed it out since I didn't want to take meds. Took me over a week to recover - blah. Occasionally, I took a light dose of cold meds bc the congestion was unbearable. Using a nose spray helped tons too!!

Ugh, I got a cold early in the first trimester before I could tell people I was even pregnant. I think my coworkers thought I was a sick mess. You just have to tough it out. I sucked on a lot of cough drops and drank lots of water.

BREATHE RIGHT STRIPS!!
They saved my life. For serious. I used them mostly at night, but they were quite amazing. I feel like because they helped me so much over the nights, I recovered much faster from the colds because I was so rested!

I cut up a bunch of ginger, garlic and mint leaves, and boiled them all up in water for about 10 minutes. Then I strained all the bits out and put in a bunch of honey, and drank that non stop for 2 days. It was soothing and the garlic is a natural anti-biotic/anti-viral. I think it cut down on the length of my cold! Other than that I sat in a room by myself and went through an entire box of Kleenex - I figured there can only be so much mucous in there, right??
