You can have cupcakes or cake made.. have the frosting on the inside be blue or pink!

We just told everyone and didn't do anything special.

We just told people but I've seen a bunch of ideas with foods.

What about sending cupcakes colored inside either blue or pink so when they take bite the get to know the gender? Or cookies with the gender written on or iced in a corresponding color? My neighbors had a giant cookie with the gender written on and when their families opened the box they got to see, but I know you said it's not possible for everyone to get together.

Your ideas are cute too! Depends on how much you want them to "work" for it

Reading these ideas wish i made some sort of reveal. I just told everyone. ha.

Our appt for the anatomy scan got moved up five days to the Friday before Christmas. We kept it a secret and wrapped a huge box with pink balloons and had each of our families unwrap the gift and its a girl balloons floated out. They were totally caught off guard since we weren't supposed to find out until the next week. Their reaction was priceless (and caught on film)

We're boring! We were team green so when LO was born we sms'd everyone the name, weight etc. And that's how they found out. I think team green is a bit more common here.

I just told people.

i like the cake idea, but i think it's sometimes ruined when you're cutting -- when the knife is pulled out you can see all the icing on the knife!

i like the idea of wrapping a balloon in a box, so it's a surprise until the balloon floats out at them.

We've been planning to do the cake idea. My aunt is an amazing baker, and I love her red velvet. I asked her if she could do red velvet for a girl and blue velvet for a boy. She's already on board and super excited.

I really like the balloon idea, too. Maybe we can send balloons to some of our family that's further away and wont be there to see the cake? I just hope they don't accidentally cut into the balloon when they're opening the box.

So what we did was fill up two big giant boxes with pink helium-filled balloons. Some of them were plain pink and others were pink with "it's a girl" written on them. We shoved them all in the giant boxes and then taped them shut and wrapped them in wrapping paper and put huge bows on top. We then dropped a box off on each of our parents' doorsteps. When they unwrapped their giant packages, dozens of pink balloons came flying out!
