how did you announce to DH?

I have the rest of my work day to figure out something fun and easy. I took the test this morning during our rushed morning of getting ready for work and getting LO ready for daycare. I was in shock and decided I can wait until tonight to tell DH because I want to do something fun. I didn't want to tell him and then we both have to rush off to work.

So on my lunch break today, I will be going shopping to buy prenatal vitamins, a digital pregnancy test for fun, and I am thinking to stop by Old Navy see if they have any of those shirts that say "I'm an awesome big brother" or something and show DH the new shirt I bought for LO and let him catch on from there.

Any other creative (but easy to pull off during the work day!) ideas of how I can tell DH the news tonight??

I didn't do anything fun for LO1 because he was an "oops" pregnancy and I was in disbelief for too long to even consider telling DH in a fun way.

I like the idea of a big brother tshirt!

We have just one LO and I got DH a book and asked if I could read it to him. The book was "When a dad says I love you".

With E, I texted him. Romantic, I know. With T, I put a big sis shirt on her. He didn't get it for awhile

Word scramble. The word scramble can be totally random, but a letter from each word would spell out a larger phrase.

example:
Scrambled word: LEHWE...wheel...use the W for a phrase "We're Pregnant!"

Or

Word clue: what sweet treat on a stick do you eat on summer days?
POPSICKLE...use the third letter P for the phrase.

Does that make sense?

With baby #1, I got him a onsie from his favorite baseball team and had the pregnancy tests (in a baggie) on top when he came home from work.

With baby #2, he knew I was taking the test and I just walked backed to bed and announced that I was all sorts of knocked up. Classy.

I handed him the freshly peed on stick. We bought the test together and he was waiting outside the bathroom when I took it.

@Peasinapod: haha, i was originally going to wait until saturday to test so we wouldn't be rushing off to work, but i had no patience since it was already 11dpo and i never got past 9 dpo in the past 7 motnhs! And then i probably would have done the same thing with the pee stick, lol.

With baby #1 he knew I was testing, so I sort of scream-cried that I was pregnant while he was in the shower...

With baby #2 I went to visit him at work with our daughter and showed him the new book I had gotten her (I'm A Big Sister!".

We told his parents, who we live with, by putting our daughter in a shirt that said Big Sister. I liked that the best because you get to see the look of pure confusion on someones face until they realize exactly what they're seeing!

Man, I sucked at telling D!

With E I was in shock...it had taken over a year with two losses, and I had been sure we were out that month. I got into bed and showed him the test at like 5am.

This time...I was in shock, lol. It was only our second month TTC. He got home from work around 11pm, and I was in bed and just said "So I'm pregnant" and thrust the test at him. Nothing fun at all!

I'm all sorts of classy so I sent him a picture of the test on snapchat.

For next time I plan on getting a big sister shirt and dressing DD in and just waiting until he clues in.

Well he was sleeping since I got up early and decided to test. So I just walked in the room, shook him up and told him a took a test. His response - "you're preggers?"

DH doesn't get home until after E goes to bed, so whenever we get pregnant with #2, I'm planning on taking some pics of E in a big brother shirt and then casually handing DH my phone when he gets home to see the cute pictures I took today.

I called him because I could not find him. He was in the garage working on his bike. I tested on the 4th of July before I drank poolside all day. I was just out of bed in a tank and undies and looked a mess. I just shook the test at him as he walked into the house and we hugged and cried in the kitchen.

Originally I thought I was going to get a pair of baby cowboy boots and wrap them up for him- but it felt like bad luck to buy anything baby related before I got pregnant.

The first time I tested while he was at work so I bought a onesie with a motorcycle and gave it to him when he got home.

The second time I tested on the weekend and just handed him the test.

I found him in the kitchen, threw my positive pregnancy test at him and shouted LOOK WHAT YOU DID TO ME. I was half kidding but it does make a good story.

DH was at work and I was in shock, so I texted him a photo of the test and a picture of a hamburger bun in the oven and told him to call me ASAP

He called me back (like an hour later) and asked if it was really positive because the second line was so light.

The first time, I waited until his birthday (I had found out a few days before) and gave the book "The Baby Owner's Manual" as one of his gifts.

The second time, I sent him a text message with a photo of the positive pregnancy test (he was away for work that day).

these are all great stories!

i just went to Old Navy, Gap, and H&M and found no big brother t-shirts. I like the cake idea though so I think while DH is putting LO to bed tonight, I will run out to Baskin Robbins. Or stop on my way home from work actually and we can all eat it for dessert!

I will order a t-shirt and take a pic of LO wearing it to send my parents and sister when I am ready to tell them.

Time 1-- we were walking the dog. I had JUST gotten off the pill and hadn't even had a period yet, so it happened faster than we were expecting and I was nervous to tell him (though he knew I was off the pill). I'd found out that morning and waited until evening and just blurted it out on our walk (it was 9-10pm).

Time 2-- I got dd2 a "big sister" shirt and had her go climb on the bed and wake him up. I got it on video tape! We had been ttc and we were all so excited and laughing!

Time 3-- I was completely blindsided and cried all day when I found out. I just told dh that night when we were laying in bed. It started like this: "I have something pretty shocking to tell you...."

With DS, I tested at 4 am because I couldn't sleep, and went back to bed shaking all over. Tried to tell DH that I'll explain when we're properly awake, but he wouldn't go back to sleep till I told him. And then he just totally lit up. So sweet!

This time, I ran back to him, told him, and begged him to calm me down because I was having a panic attack that the baby won't make it. Because I saw the but I wasn't glowing like I was with DS. And I put the digital test on a shelf to show him later, but he was rummaging for something, it fell out, and bonked him on the head.

That's our life in a nutshell... now that we're parents, not parents to be, we kind of expect bonks on the head, spit up, and all that jazz along with the romantic stuff

@californiadreams: We did the Big Sister shirt and DH caught on right away. His exact words were" Do you have something to tell me?" This pregnancy happened much quicker than the last, so we were super caught off guard!

We had just done our first IUI and were waiting for bloodwork but he knew I was going to test at 12 dpiui . We were on a weekend trip away so I took it early when I first woke up to pee, like 6am, then came out saying "Well, I think it's one of those evaporation lines, I'm pretty sure it's not positive," and he was like "Uh, that's a line," LOL!

So, I took a different test about 9am that was definitely positive and we knew! No cute ways to tell him, unfortunately.

First time I waited until he got home from work and gave him a gift bag with a onesie from his college alma mater and the test. He was confused but then excited but he was also bummed that I took it in private and didn't tell him. He imagined we'd do it together and he felt like he missed out.
All of the other times I told him right away. After losses, the magic of finding out was lost a bit. I never felt, after that like I could say, "you're going to be a dad!" Because there was always this"maybe"...
