    In order:
    Hard shell.
    Ground beef or chicken.
    Cheese (so it melts on the meat)
    Onions
    Lettuce
    Tomatoes
    Jalapenos
    Sour Cream

    I cook corn and black beans with taco seasoning for my daughter often. If we have grilled corn left over, I'll make a huge batch with grilled onions and peppers. Then we'll put that into tortillas or shells with cheese and salsa and sour cream, maybe.

    @looch: We only make carnitas in the crockpot - let me know if you want the recipe. My husband makes them, so I'll have to ask him.

    For carne asada, we use tri-tip steak (they are strips). Just sprinkle with a little garlic salt, S&P and squeeze of lime juice, then just grill or broil until crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside (usually like 3 minutes per side on the grill). Very quick.

    @yoursilverlining: I see! I have to see about tri-tip, I don't think I've ever had it!

    I'd love the carnitas recipe, no rush, whenever!

    @Mrs. Pen: I get the old el paso kits with a mix of soft and hard tacos., i cook ground turkey with onions and peppers, then I heat up the ol el paso refried beans. I then have several toppings such as shredded cheese, salsa, jalapenos, chopped tomatoes

    Lean ground turkey with taco seasoning, black beans, brown rice, avacado, spinach, salsa, my husband has cheese, all in a multi-grain tortilla.

    @looch: Sorry for the delay - here it is. We use this basic recipe and tweak a little bit, adding in a bit more orange juice than it calls for. If you don't like jalapenos or spicy food, you can sub poblano peppers in. They are not as spicy but have good flavor.
