My FIL is a gardener and he works on our yards twice a week. We want to pay him but he won't accept any money. We used to buy him beer & ice cream (his favorite things) but he is trying to cut back. 
How do you thank family members who won't accept money?

I would either take him out to dinner once every 2 weeks or have him over for dinner once every week or 2.

I take them out for dinner. Or give then extravagant Christmas presents. Ha! Cause then they are cornered and have to take it! Mwa ah ah ah!!!!!

When it is gift giving time (BDay or Christmas) just go all out. Keep tabs, if you would give him $10 bucks for your yard and his birthday is in 10 months give him a $100 gift/card.

Hmmmm, he says the only payment he wants is the baby to share a bday with him- lol! I told him I would try...
Dinner is a good idea! He doesn't like eating out...maybe I can find some recipes for his favorite dishes!

My dad loves to tend his own garden and totally flipped over the compost DH and I had but were not using. We let him have it and he was so thankful. Fathers are simple creatures sometimes.

dinner! my sister watches LO for me sometimes so when I go over her place I ask if i can do her laundry for her and she always accepts.
