I used to live 20 mins from most of the OC beaches in ca. Now the closest beach is FIVE hours away. We're going to the beach this weekend! I'm excited, but not excited for the car ride...

We're five minutes from the lake. But our favorite beach is more like 15-20 minutes; such a commute, lol!

Ugh, five hours?! We live about 30 minutes from the beach, but there's a lake "beach" at the end of our street that will be fun once we have LOs.

About 30 mins! Haven't taken Wagon Jr. yet but hope to this summer!

About 20 minutes from the OC beaches (Newport, Huntington, Sunset, Laguna is about 30-45 mins away). Haven't been all summer yet, but we did go to doggy beach a couple of months ago during a heat wave!

@chopsuey119: Which beach are you going to?! Have fun!! I've never been a big beach person, but I miss the jogs I took on the strand and the beach volleyball when I lived in Manhattan Beach.

There is a crappy beach under an hour but it's lame. Any decent beach is a plane ride away!

WAY too far. I grew up in Mass and spent summers on the Jersey Shore so I went to the beach all the time. The thing I hate most about living in TN is that it's land locked. We're about 6 hours from the beach.

I can see the sound from my house. Maybe a 2 min drive if that. But the water is toooooo cold for swiming. LOL

The ocean is about a one minute walk from our house, but it's not a real beach. We have to drive about 15 minutes to get a real "play in the sand" beach.

Technically like 2 minutes but it's just a harbor beach. Luckily, there is a lot of water and beaches around here. Have a great trip!

Beach...well we have a lake that is 20 minutes away (although a horrible/rocky/muddy gross beach.) Otherwise a nice sandy beach to an ocean is 3 hour plane ride to either coast! We have some nicer lakes around that would be an hour or two drive.

We are <5 minutes from a big state beach. The beaches that I'll bring LO to when she gets older are about 20 minutes away or so.
I love where I live, and try not to take it for granted:)

We live an hour from the beach and its the farthest I've ever lived from the ocean! I grew up a few blocks from the beach and I miss it! We're moving in a few months and we'll only be 20-30 minutes from the beach.

1035.45 miles from a beach on an ocean.
5 minute walk from my front door to a lake. I'll take it.

Right now it's about 45 mins - 1 hour to get to the beach... although northern California beaches are usually too cold for swimming w/out a wet suit. We're moving at the end of the month to Iowa, and then we'll be 1000 miles from the nearest beach. Boo

I used to be able to see the ocean from my bedroom. Now I see it after spending 10 hours in the car. We do have lake beaches about 10 minutes away, but it's just not the same.

About 2 hours away from an ocean beach. 30 minutes away from a lake beach!

@oliviaoblivia: Amen. I always have to laugh when people think it's the same. My husband lived in Detroit for a while and people up there kept trying to tell me Lake Michigan was "just like the ocean!". Umm.... false.

10 minutes from Santa Monica, CA beaches... Malibu isn't too far either

@MamaMoose: is it? Hahahha all the Carolina's are the same to me! I have no idea... I think it might be.

@chopsuey119: LUCKY! My husband and I love it there. We used to go there for weekend escapes before baby! Have a great time!!
...and yes, it's in SC!

We live a little less than an hour from the beach. It isn't the most beautiful beach, but it's better than nothing!
cantaloupe / 6164 posts
we live about 20 minutes from the alantic. that's to the virginia beach oceanfront though, and we locals don't dare go there! it's 30 minutes to our beaches.

We live about 20 minutes away from the beach, but in beach traffic on a weekend, it takes about 30.
The beach is my enemy while pregnant...We're in S Flo and it's HOT!!!! DH drug me a couple of weekends ago and it's just too hot to walk all the way from the car, haul chairs and crap. I prefer our pool and I informed DH that would have to do while I'm pregnant in the hottest time of the year in FL!!!
