Our son is 37 pounds or so, and I can still pick him up and carry him if needed - especially when we're running late on the walk to Kindergarten! He's passed the point though where I can carry him for long distances - I can do a few blocks OK, but then I have to switch arms.

Our daughter is ten pounds or so lighter, and feels so much lighter in comparison! But she doesn't like to be carried usually, so the squirming makes it harder to carry her long distances. So we usually use a double stroller when we're out with the kids.

How heavy are your kids, and are they getting too big to carry?
