If you went to 41 weeks how much longer was it before your LO arrived?? Also how much were you dilated or effaced?
I am 41 weeks and nothing is happening- not dilated, effaced, nothing!?!?!?

I was induced at 41w1d and DS arrived 41w2d. I was not effaced or dilated at all when I went into induction. My body was doing nothing on it's own.

I was induced at 41 days. I wasn't dilated or effaced and I had a C section 2 days later.

Never. I was induced at 41+1 and my baby was very much not ready to be born. My fluid was gone and the cord was around her neck, so we didn't get to choose, sadly.

@anbanan15: @autumnlove: I thought they couldn't induce if I wasn't favorable?? Meaning not dilated or effaced - I wonder if they are hoping it will just happen naturally and want me to wait it out? I am so ready for my baby to be here!!

My sister went into labor on her own at 10 days past her due date. She still needed mess to move things along though since her water had broken at the start. She ended up with a c section for other reasons. The would have let her go a few more days bf inducing.

@cheert16: I had my membranes stripped twice at 39w and 40w but obviously didn't work since I wasn't dilated or effaced (couldn't get in there good). At my 40w appointment they set me up for induction at 41w (got rescheduled to 41w1d). I had oral cervidil to try and get things started, they manually broke my waters, pitocin and meds to being my bp up. I know when I went in for my induction they said nothing was going on but never mentioned anything about having to be favorable. I know my OB/GYN practice does not like you to go past 41w, but a lot let you go to 42w, so maybe that is why they are trying to wait it out a little.
ETA: I did almost fail my induction. OB came in just as I was getting ready to tell them I had a lot of pressure. He said they would check one more time (reluctantly) before moving to a c-section. To everyones surprise it was finally time to push!

I had a completely natural birth:
Early labor started at 41+3
Active labor on 41+4
Delivered just after midnight at 41+5
I had a nst & bpp scheduled for 41+3 (never made it) & given all was well we planned on waiting till 42+1 to intervene.... I wouldn't schedule an induction before 41 1/2 weeks unless medically necessary as evidence shows FTP/cesarean rates drop significantly at that time.

So sorry! I went to 41 weeks and my cervix was the same...nada! My u/s showed a big baby. You are more likely to fail an induction with an unfavorable cervix. I opted to schedule a c section at 41 weeks (for personal as well as medical reasons and I'm an MD so I did my research to make that choice) so I can't answer your poll. It is so stressful playing the waiting game Good luck to you!

I went into labor naturally at 41+5. I think I was like 2 cm dilated, 50% effaced? At 41 even, I was maybe 1 cm, 20% effaced. So a lot happened over those next 5 days. I did do 3 rounds of acupuncture induction, though, which I think worked really well for me. Also had my membranes stripped, or whatever you call it.

At 40w+5, I was 2cm dilated and had been there since 40w. I chose to be induced with pitocin at 41w and she came at 41w+1

I hope you go into labor soon! I know you are just dying from anxiety!
And even if you get induced, it could still go really well! You'll have that baby soon!

I was induced at 41w + 1 day. Only a 1/2cm dilated when I went in for my induction.

@Amelieisme: ahh- I never thought about a failed induction with an unfavorable uterus! Hopefully when I go in on tues, something has happened!
@blackbird: I think the anxiety is the worst part!! I am starting to get a little down in the dumps feeling like he will never come!
I am at 41 + 1 and still nothing - hoping by 41 + 3 (tues) when my next appt is, something will be going on!!!

@cheert16: yes, but you are still much more likely to do just fine being induced than have to have a c section! Didn't mean to add to your worries Good luck and keep us posted!

Hanging out now at 41 + 2. Nothing happening. This waiting might be the most annoying thing I've ever done.

@sslm: I am sorry! That has to be the most frustrating. You never know though when it could happen!!

@cheert16: Looking around for other bees who went past 41 weeks--what ended up being your case? I am 41 weeks today and a scheduled NST on Tuesday and induction on Wednesday...would love for something to happen over the weekend to avoid both appointments!
ETA-never mind, I see that you have several posts about it--reading now!!

I wasn't dilated or effaced at all and I was induced at 41 weeks. My baby took forever and she was born 3 days later!

@maybebaby: For positioning reasons, my LO may not get into the correct spot for labor...so I've started pulling out the "opening pelvis" stops. Brisk walking, hip circles (plus on hands/knees!), sumo stomping up stairs (attributed to @arden !), and I'm going to attack DH tonight (ha).
If I have to induce, I don't want to induce a high baby.
I thought this gave some good information (i.e. not all babies need to be "engaged" for labor to start):

@Espion: Thank you! The crazy thing is for the past two weeks baby has been low and engaged--they've felt his head twice and say he is right there. What is he waiting for!?

@maybebaby: Let me tell you, I wish I could answer that mystery. I would give you the key in an instant!

I was also stripped at 39w and 40w with no results. I finally went into labor on my own at 41w and the baby came at 41+1. I had an induction scheduled for 41+3. I think it could have been bc I was soooo sedentary. It was freezing (February in Boston), none of my clothes fit anymore, it hurt to bend down to put on shoes, and I was very, very tired. But once labor started it progressed nicely on its own, and by the time I got to the hospital at 41+1, I was dilated to 7. The nurse still had to break my water, though. I feel for you! Hang in there!
