How long did it take you to get pregnant?

When I was young (early 20s), I got pregnant twice ... my guess about 2 - 3 cycles in. Now that I'm older (late 20s), we are on cycle 11 and still no luck. Both DH and I check out perfectly fine.

LO #1: 2 cycles (1st was right off of BC so it wasn't even a real full cycle)
    LO#2: 6 cycles
Pregnancy #3 (ended in mc): one night (accidental!!!)

You never know when it will happen, could be right away or could take 3-6 months or more. I would wait if you aren't quite ready this month because it could happen right away.

I have to say, I was avoiding this thread because I thought it would just be depressing, as we are in the tww of our 11th cycle and third IUI, but reading all of the varying responses (that finally ended in success) actually made me feel less alone and more hopeful. So thank you to everyone for sharing their stories. It's so helpful to know that although we all have a different path, eventually one way or another it's possible to end up with a baby.

@Shizaz: I'm technically on month/cycle 12. I've began tracking and really trying 2 months/cycles ago and I'm hoping that will be key for us! I was on depo for years and was advised to wait 6 months and warned it may take 12-18 months so I'm not worried yet. But yes, it can definitely take time! Good luck!

I guess I'm still on the trenches of TTC. We lost our baby at nearly 12 weeks two nights ago.., so
Now we are at 2.5 years and counting.

#1- cycle 2 after coming off BC ended in early mc
#2- cycle 3 after the mc gave us DD
#3- accidental but very welcomed pregnancy ended in 22w loss
#4- We are now on 6th cycle after our 3 month waiting period following loss. Hoping it happens soon.

Pregnancy 1-one cycle NTNP and resulted in DD
Pregnancy 2-one cycle TTC and I'm 16 weeks

I hesitated posting because I am sensitive to the wide range in how long it takes to conceive--but sharing for OP. As previous posters have stated, be prepared for anything!

to all who TTC for many cycles and/or experienced loss.

2 years, which included 5 attempts at IUIs, with only 3 that we were able to complete (none of which worked), 1 failed IVF and a successful FET.

ETA- we were diagnosed as unexplained infertility.

It took 3 cycles/4ish months (I have long cycles). I charted/temped using FF and an ovulation predictor.

4 years. We didn't start infertility interventions until 2014 though. 3 failed IUIs, 1 failed ivf. I'm currently 9 weeks pregnant after using donor eggs.

5 cycles for pregnancy #1, but had mc @ 6w, then 3 more cycles to conceive our DD. I started temping a couple months into ttc, using opks & FF app 2 months after that, & I found HB after my mc. All were SO helpful in getting my BFPs. Good luck!

@Shizaz: I got my 1st bfp first time trying for baby #1 and 3rd month for future #2. I also only tracked my period and O day with a App and felt Ovulation like you . Good luck !!!! Just be really ready when you decide to conceive because it can happen right away

@jh524: Thank you for your reply! I think once we've been trying a couple months, I'll move towards OPKs and if we still have difficulty, temping. But temping makes me nervous because I've heard how stressful it can be! It seems like so many people do everything they can to track, so I'm glad that I'm not weird for relying on an app for the most part.

I'm pretty confident that I can recognize the symptoms though. I paid real close attention this month and I think the app was pretty dead-on, maybe off by a day. I think I ovulated the day before it said I was supposed to. (But I was only going by how I feel and getting up close and personal with CM).

We'll see what happens. I never thought I'd actually be looking forward to my period. It will hopefully be my last one!

@Shizaz: of course! Sounds like your in tune with your body and Ill definately have my
Fingers crossed for you and a quick bfp !!! Good luck!! The biggest thing for me was Feeling O and observing EWCM and we would DTD starting in my fertile window every other day but once you see CM. & feel O, be sure to BD!!

LO #1 : first cycle - kind of an oops but very welcome, we just thought it would take longer.

LO #2 : 8 cycles but around 11 months - were were NTNP for about 3 cycles then I was full crazy OPKs and temping for the rest of the cycles. I have very long irregular cycles.

It took us 3 months, all of which I was charting and we were actively trying. I did temp also but I don't know that it was really necessary (for me). I used the fertility friend mobile app. DH had surgery a few years prior and we were told it could affect us in getting pregnant so we wanted to actively try sooner rather than later.

6 months/5 cycles I think for the first pregnancy which was an early loss. After that it was 3 months/2 cycles until I got pregnant with my son.

It took us 2 cycles. This is my first LO and I'm still early in my pregnancy, so hopefully all goes well.

About 19 cycles (4 IUIs and 1 IVF at the end of that time period). Finally got our BFP during our IVF cycle. I had been tracking my cycles with OPKs and monitoring CM prior to going to the RE.

I'm about to start my 4th month of trying next month.

H and I are usually both really tired during the week, partly due to our introverted personalities and work schedules. So when it comes to BD'ing it's like "eh, how ya feeling tonight?" And the other person is like "eh, I'm up for it if you're up for it". Needless to say, we haven't been successful TTC yet.
