My older LO has moved 3 times and my younger one just once. It hasn't been a problem.

I would say a few weeks. We moved the day before Halloween. E knew what was up when we were packing, but didn't fully understand until we got to the new house and spent time there. The harder transition for us was preschool and big boy bed wrapped up in the move experience. We've been in the house almost 2 months and there's still times of struggle adjusting with him. Baby J adapted well to having his own room and crib.

We moved last when DS1 was about 13 months. There was no hiccup in sleep, but it may have been because we had overlapping leases for a month so we could do a slow and gradual move. (I was 7 months pregnant and DH in med school). That meant that DS had already been spending a lot of time at the new house, and had even had a few naps in a pack n play there as we were slowly moving in.

It took a couple of weeks but that was mostly our fault because we hadn't prepared ahead of time by getting the alarm system installed or setting anything up to make it feel like home!

E was 2 when we moved and she adjusted immediately. We had two nights of crappy sleep, then her sleep actually improved. She called home "new house" for a couple of weeks but then even that stopped.

a long time ha. the first month was the worst (lots and lots of crying, almost like she was grieving! but to be fair, she'd never lived anywhere other than what she knew as home). sometimes she still says she wants to go to her "real home" or her "brown home" and her "real pink room" which is sad, but she's getting better. we moved in in August.
