For some reason, I always assume it will take 3-4 months for us to get pg, which is kind of nice because I don't have my hopes toooo high this first month. Of course, I'll still be a bit disappointed every month if it doesn't happen.
When you started TTC, how long did you think it would take? Were you right?

I was right...
I estimated 6-9 months because I had been on BC for so long that I knew it would take me at least 6 months to regulate afterwards....and it did!
Then month 7 I ovulated...but didn't get pregnant:(
Month 8 we got pregnant.
Had I not gotten pregnant at about month 8 or 9 I would have lost my mind....because I am VERY type "A" and I had a plan of when I wanted baby to arrive....ek, I sound crazy.

I haven't started TTCing #2 yet but I think it will take a long time because #1 was a surprise and I will probaby stress a lot this time!

Hubs guessed one month and I guessed three. Turns out we were both kind of right. We got pregnant on the first try but quickly miscarried. Then we skipped a month, and then got pregnant on the first try again (I'm now 17 weeks). So three months for a sticky baby but first try both times.

I was convinced it would take a year to two years as I prefer to be pessimistic and not be disappointed (and we had reason to believe we'd have male-factor infertility problems). We conceived the baby we miscarried on our first cycle TTC which happened to fall on the month of our wedding. We conceived baby girl in my miscarriage cycle- maybe three weeks after we lost baby #1 we got our BFP. I was definitely not right and we were honestly pretty surprised considering all the issues my husband should have had.

I honestly was really worried about it. Because I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 16 I always assumed that it'd take us a really long time. I was shocked when I got pregnant the first month. Unfortunately the PCOS made the staying pregnant an issue. After my first MC I was sure that we'd just been lucky that first time and was again convinced it'd be a long process to conceive. Wrong again, pregnant the first month! After another MC and a few months of treatment to balance my hormones I got pregnant the first month of trying again! Luckily this one stuck

I had been on bcp for over a decade and thought it would take at least 4-6 months. We got pregnant on my second cycle though even though my cycles were really wonky still.

I was sure it would happen the first month. Then I was like, "Okay. Definitely will happen the 2nd month." But it took us 9 months to get this little pink monkey going;)

I was wrong, wrong, wrong! My OB and other docs said to expect a year (I was 38). It happened on the very first remotely possible cycle. I learned it is very important for me to use protection religiously, lest we end up with Jacks #3!

I guessed one month..because my mom and aunts all got pregnant by accident. I figured once we started actually trying it wouldn't take long! But, I'd been on BCP for 7 years, and it ended up that I got pregnant our third month trying (off bcp).

I totally thought it would take a long time. I didn't really have any reason to believe that, but I expected it to be awhile. I got a BFP yesterday on cycle 3 and I was totally shocked! Praying for a sticky baby!

I assumed it would take us about 6 months. We're both young and healthy, and I'd only been on BC for about a year. Boy, was I wrong.
We're now on cycle 18, and we've got nothing to show for it.

I thought it would take six months or more (irregular cycles, almost 30, etc.) so we started TTC right after we got married. I got knocked up on the first try.

I assumed about 6 months. I was only on BCP for a year and had a very fertile mother so I wasn't worried about it. It took us 4 cycles

My hopeful assumption was 3-4 months. I also was really hoping that it would take no more than 6 months. In the end it took 3 months. We were fairly lucky in retrospect b/c we started trying as soon as I went off of BCP, and I know it takes many people a while for their cycles to regulate.

I didn't really have any expectation, but my husband thought it would take "a while" since he was 45 and had never had any pregnancy scares in almost 25+ years of having sex. Turns out his swimmers were just waiting for the right egg - we got pregnant the first time in 5 years we didn't use protection.

I thought I'd get knocked up the first time we had sex the first month without protection, because god was that what I was led to believe would happen if I ever missed a pill or forgot a condom...
I didn't know anything about TTC or average times, we just kind of jumped into it blind. After the first month I started reading more, and then I thought "well, within 3 months" which became "still totally normal within 6 months" (especially since we'd started charting and using OPKs) which ended up being over a year.

Out loud I said 6 months, but secretly I really thought it would only take 3. We were successful in our 7th cycle. 10 weeks in, so far so good!

We knew it could take up to a year for a healthy couple to conceive but we were both really hoping it would only take 1 or 2 months. I was temping and using opks so we always had perfect timing. In the end, we got our bfp after 5 months.

I certainly didn't think I needed to see a fertility doctor.

I assumed 8 months (somehow), but I was anxious after cycle 4 (I started spotting 8 days into my LP most of the time. I got an ultra-faint positive the one month I DIDN'T spot... but no luck.) Started taking B vitamins on cycle 5, and I'm 4 months in!

@eiko2010: Me too!! I said 6 months and I think I thought closer to three 'cause I was totally bummed when 3 passed by and nada. This month is cycle 6, so eeeeeeeeekkkkk. I've given myself a new time line of 8 cycles which puts me into Sept before I really start freakin' out.

I always assumed that it would take about a year and my husband thought that it would happen quickly. We conceived our second cycle of not using any birth control, but this ended up in a loss at about 8 weeks. We waited for me to have one period and then tried again. We conceived that cycle and I'm not 19.5 weeks pregnant.

I knew we would need to see a fertility specialist but I still thought it would only take one or two medicated cycles. Boy was I wrong! It took 6 medicated cycles over a year and a half and a switch in fertility clinics before I got pregnant. Now we have a happy and healthy 12 week old boy.

We were told it would take us a while because I was diagnosed with endometriosis. I came off hormonal BC 4 cycles before my wedding. We decided to NTNT on our honeymoon and got pregnant with twins 2 cycles later! Craziness!

I felt like it was going to be hard for us to conceive, but Hubby didn't feel like we would have any problems. We were pregnant on our 3rd month of trying, but we miscarried at 20 wks. I'm hoping that's the 'difficulty' we will have and we will get pregnant quickly this next time with a sticky baby.

I have always thought it wasn't going to easy for us. Given that I seem to always ovulate on a Tuesday and DH is always gone for work, looking like I might be right. Although I am trying to stay positive since we are just starting cycle 3. I think deep down I was just hoping we were going to be one of the lucky couples that look at each other and end up pregnant.

I honestly thought I'd get pregnant immediately about going off BCP, but I figured it might 3-6 months. I'm in month 6 now so... *crosses fingers*

I'm older and was on BCP from 1997-2007, so I figured it would take us a year and that we'd need interventions. So, I charted and did a pregnancy prep that included acupuncture. We were successful on our first try.

We both thought it would happen pretty quickly, and it did...only 2 cycles of trying. But I've always had really regular periods on and off BC, so that's probably a large factor in our early success.
