LO 2 (15 months) has grandma anxiety and it has been bad since she was 10 or 11 months old. MIL can't hold her or give her direct eye contact because it will make her cry, scream and shake!

She is starting to get leery of my Dad. I think it is cause of his beard. My nephews, cousins, and cousin's children were the same way.

From 2-3 weeks old onward to almost 12 months old, our daughter was leery of anyone besides mommy or daddy. Would scream, shake, etc. whenever the grandmas held her. It was so sad, but they do grow out of it. She now LOVES her grandmas!

LO has had anxiety towards my in laws since 20 months. It's sooo bad.

Yeah, the hyperventilating whenever I left the room was not fun! We have a very sensitive daughter who is very aware of her surroundings - even from a young age. Good luck!

@Smurfette: ah ok, I thought it was breath! My kids are pretty terrified of BIL when he has a full beard!
