LO 1- 4 weeks. Perfect for us as FTPs.
LO 2- 5 weeks. Too long, DH tried to go back early but his boss already staffed for his paternity leave and told him to just enjoy the time off.
He will probably take 3 for any future LOs.

None! He worked the entire time I was in labor. He works from home though so he was still able to help out.

Not sure for #2, but I kinda hope it isn't as long. I loved having him around, but he was getting stir crazy and wanted me to be productive and not sit on my butt on the couch. Um, NO. -
A few days for 1, a week and a half for 2--ds was sick and i needed more help since i couldn't tend to both kids with a newborn.

2.5 weeks for LO. I loved having him home and was so sad when he went back!

1 week. No paternity leave so he took his vacation time.
Not sure about this upcoming birth. 1 week if we're lucky.

2 weeks for #2. My mom was here so I was ok with that... plus I went back at 7 weeks! -

We don't get any paternity/maternity leave (we own our own company) but DH will probably take a few days off in a row and then probably some mornings/afternoons for a week or so.

1 week - he didn't have paternity leave.
BUT he just got a job with TEN WEEKS of PAID paternity leave. I can't wait to have another!!

Two weeks. He tried for more because I didn't feel ready at all, but his boss denied.

2 weeks immediately after birth. Then he took a 4 week paternity leave when she was 7 months and we traveled to Europe to see his parents.
I think the 2 weeks was adequate. 3 would have been perfect since I was still having a hard time moving around, but my mom was here so I did have help.

He was only able to take 1 + the 3 days we were in the hospital. I really enjoyed having home in the beginning. I wish he had been able to take longer

We've kindof thrown around him taking 2 weeks, but I also told him that I want him home for as long as his father is in town! (Just me and MIL is fine though)

Wow, I'm jealous of some of the time off!
My DH took 2 days off - the day I gave birth (my water broke the night before so he was able to give his boss the heads up) and the day after (then it was the weekend but he went back on Monday).

Three weeks. I needed every second of it since we had twins. I think though that if we had only had one baby, he wouldn't have taken as long. Maybe just two weeks? I treasured that time together as a family before the visitors descended.

We're planning on 2 weeks, then working from home as much as possible at least through the first month. He's self-employed/freelance, though, so things will stay pretty flexible even after that. We're really lucky in that way.

4 weeks for #1 plus working from home for 2 days/week for another 4 weeks.
Not sure what he'll do for #2. Probably only 2 weeks or so.

3 days, then it was spring break! So 9 days total. He has been back to work for 3 days, and it has been hard by myself!

He was off for a month.

6 days for A and 5 for E, not long enough
He only had a few vacation/sick days left because he had to take off so many for A's hip appointments the few months before.

DH just put in his paternity leave schedule. He gets two weeks of paid leave, and then he is going to work part-time during the third week and use vacation time. I'm hoping that third week will help me to transition to being at home alone with the baby!

He says he is taking off 60 days. I don't believe it though, he's a workaholic.

Wow. I'm amazed at how much time people were able to take off! My DH gets 5 days paid paternity leave so he will take those. He has vacation time saved so if he needs to take longer he can. He works from home so it maybe won't be as tough for us as it would be for other couples who WOH. And my mom lives close by so I can call her for back up!

He wanted to take a week off. I had the baby Thursday night and made him go back to work Monday. He started talking about all the things he was going to do Monday (get an oil change, go to the comic book store, shop for shoes) and since none of it had to do with the baby or me, he got to go back to work.

He has 2 weeks of paternity leave and will take other random vacation days while I'm on maternity leave.

My husband took two weeks off, but worked a bit from home during the 2nd week home. But those two weeks flew by and I would have loved for him to have a few more weeks at home!

He took 6 weeks where he only worked Fridays. It was amazing and I think it really helped us start of our parenting relationship on an even footing (if that makes sense). With this next baby he will be in grad school and probably heading into final exams. OMG.

He took 4 weeks. Two of paid paternity leave and two of vacation. I think that was a good amount of time and would plan for similar with #2

only 1 week!!! He planned to take less but I had a bad recovery so he couldn't go back sooner. He gets 5 weeks topped up by his company at 94% of pay, but couldn't take it at that time. He's taking it off in July though!
