I know a lot of people drive farther than I do (and I hate it!) so I thought I'd see how long our commutes are!

About 15 mins to my parking lot, then a 5 min walk to the office. Avgs about 20 mins total. Commutes in our city are really short though; DH drives from the very south of our city to the very north, and it only takes in 30 mins!

I usually work from home but my commute to the office is over 2.5 hours to 3.5 hours roundtrip. It only takes 1 hour in the morning but the afternoon drive is a mess. I did it FT when I was pregnant with LO 1 and it was awful.

Could we have multiple options? Mine changes based on the time of day.
Morning: 10 minutes to daycare, 15-30 minutes to office depending on traffic.
Afternoon: 20-30 minutes to daycare (depending on traffic), 20-30 minutes home (again, dependent on traffic).

About 35 minutes! And then another 5 minutes to get to my desk.

@avivoca: Haha! Well, the tradeoff is that we have no arts or entertainment to speak of! It is nice being able to get anywhere in 30 mins though!

I walk - it takes me about 30-35 minutes (just under 2 miles each way).
When we move out to the suburbs, my commute will be about 45 minutes of driving.

We have two offices, so it's either 20 minutes or 10 minutes, door to door. I used to commute two hours one way to Brooklyn for work (I live in NJ), so it has made me appreciate my current commute so much more!

About 7 minutes. I am very lucky, my work is about 3 miles from my home.

45 minute drive when I'm working in the office, 15-20 minute easy drive (rural) when I'm working in the hospital.

20 mins. It used to be 50-60 mins so I can't complain, I'd really like to move to town and walk but my DH isn't having it.

20 min drive, shorter/longer depending on traffic/lights, etc.

Mine depends on DC traffic!! It's about 30 miles but can take anywhere from 40 mins-1.5 hours depending. I work an early schedule 7 am- 330 pm so I avoid the heaviest traffic and my commute is usually right around 45 mins to an hour

Depending on traffic, it's anywhere between 1:15 to 1:45. Coming home is worse than going, but I have a drive to the train, and then a train ride into the city, then a few minute walk to the office. Door to desk is about an hour and a half.

Can you enable multiple voting options? I commute to two differnt locations.

Three days a week, we drive about 12 miles on highway roads, around 6:45 am. We're in the office by 7. On the way home, it can be up to 45 minutes, depending on traffic.
Two days a week, I do a super commute. Without being too specific, I take 3 forms of public transportation, if all the connections are timed well, it takes a little less than 1.5 hours. If I happen to miss a connection, it can take up to 2 hours.

The distance to my office is only 15 miles. But I'm stuck in traffic both ways. It's almost always at least 45 minutes.

@babyjmama: it's insane is that it is, but it's short term and I use the time to catch up on reading. I couldn't do it 5 days a week, so the compromise worked out really well.

1 hour.
But I don't drive. I take transit. Which is usually faster than driving...

45-50 minutes 3 days a week. The other two days I work from home. It's a nice balance, and my drive into the office is beautiful!

I drive from one end of town to the other but it's a small town and only takes about 10 minutes. I used to have a 30 second commute when I lived across the street from where I work.

20 min car ride to the ferry, 20 minute ferry ride to work, 10 minute walk to work. On the way back home, it's a 10 minute walk home, 35 minute ferry ride (its not express like in the morning), 20 minute car ride home. So it's 15 minutes longer on the way home.

I selected 10-20min but often it is quicker than that. I'm lucky...

7-11 minutes depending on traffic. MAJOR part of why I will continue to work in this job!
wonderful grape / 20453 posts
It's about 20 min. I leave 30 min early to do drop off, plus it's a long walk into my building
pomelo / 5257 posts
Mine is 10 to 15 minutes. After years of 30 min + train and subway rides to work, I really appreciate a ten-minute drive

Well I'm on maternity leave and may never return to that job, but on a normal traffic day, my commute is 1.5 hrs. On a bad traffic day, could go up to 3 hrs. BIG reason that I may never return.
