If you had a bad cold, how long would you wait after you started feeling better to go visit a friend and her newborn? I'm thinking of waiting until all of my symptoms are gone and I feel 100% better, even if it means waiting another week...

I would wait until I feel 100% better + 2 days, just to be sure. I wouldn't want to risk being the "spreader" of germs or getting the baby (or momma) sick!

Agreed, I wouldn't go over until all symptoms were completely resolved. Your friend won't be thankful for your visit if you get her LO sick!

@mediagirl: I would definitely err on the side of caution...as in feeling 100%, like you said, even if it means waiting another week.

Definitely wait! It is not worth the risk. Newborns don't have an immune system, and even a normal cold can be deadly, so unless you're 100%, don't risk it.

I have had a slight stuffy nose for two weeks now and I still won't go. Hopefully this weekend it will be gone so I can go see my friend's new LO.

I'd totally wait a week out of paranoia. Nobody wants to be the guy that got the baby sick!

I would wait until all the symptoms are gone. The new parents will appreciate it.
There's nothing like the death glare that a new mom gives someone that coughs or sneezes in the presence of a newborn.

I would probably wait a week or more. But I don't have kids, so I may be an alarmist. There has been some nasty stuff going around here.

I'd wait until all symptoms are 100% gone. Sometimes it takes a while to kick the cough, and even if I know I'm not contagious anymore, I feel bad displaying any kind of symptoms that might make the parents worried.

Absolutely. I would wait until all symptoms (including any kind of drainage or cough) was gone!! As a mom, you have to worry about so much in the early days, I'd expect my friends would only come over if they were feeling 100%.
