I'd expand immediately. I am not married to this profession (legal) and wouldn't mind jumping into something new if someone would be willing to give me an interview....

I would look for jobs in all possible fields right away. You don't want to limit your search since you never know how long it will take to find something.

I would focus on your primary field but maybe set up alerts for other related fields where your transferable skills might fit. So put most of your active energy into the field you are in, but keep your options open for the broader areas.
