On Homeland, Nick Brody is captured and imprisoned/tortured for eight years. His wife didn't get remarried but she did start seeing someone else.
Frankly, 8 years is a long time to wait... I don't blame her. That said, I would wait. I would probably move in with my mom or Mrs. Bee's mom though. I couldn't raise two kids on my own!
How long would you wait for your SO if they were kidnapped and MIA?

it's hard to say unless you're actually in that position, but i can't imagine that i would ever remarry. i can't imagine there being another person that i would fit with like i do with my husband. we've been best friends for so long that it seems so natural, and being with anyone else would be totally bizarre. BUT, i'm only 24, and the rest of a lifetime with no hanky panky would be pretty difficult!
ETA: my husband and i actually talk about this weird stuff all the time, and i made him promise me he would remarry. i don't think he could handle life alone.

I think I would wait, because I do think I could manage on my own. I might get my best friend to move in with me though.
That said - even if I knew he was dead... I still probably wouldn't remarry.

I don't know, that's such a hard question. I'm sure after time I'd move on, but I just don't know what moving on would be.

I would wait forever. I can't imagine being with someone else. If I had kids, I'd probably ask my parents to move in with me and help me raise them.

I was single for almost 4 years between leaving DS's dad & re-marrying to DH. Giving the pretense that I would still be in love with DH when he went missing/MIA I'd imagine I would probably move back with my mom & stay near DH's family for DD. I really don't think if I could ever remarry.

Heh, I saw the title and knew you were talking about Homeland.
I think 8 yrs is long enough to wait. I watch the show with DH and he agrees. But it would be weird since the person is only MIA and could possibly return one day.

I'm 100% sure i won't remarry if anything were to happen to DH. If he went missing and we couldn't find his body, I'd hope that one day he would return.
If I didn't have my babies, I'd live life and date if someone amazing came along, but eh. The chances of meeting someone awesomer than my dh is not likely

If they never found a body and there was a possibility he'd show up alive, one day, I think I'd wait, though I can't say forever. I mean if 20 years passed, and our kids were grown, I can't imagine being alone forever. If he died, I would certainly date again. I hope he would do the same. Life is too short not to be in love.

I thought she was justified, it had been 8 years! I told my husband that I felt like she'd made the right choice and that he had permission to do the same.
