I'm going to say I need 8 hours. Without kids. I have so many little things I want to do but someone is always wanting my attention!

I cleaned and organized yesterday, so I would just need to fold the laundry that is in the dryer right now.

Maybe two hours? We've been chipping away at it for SO LONG, that it's just mostly clutter at this point.
I mean, two hours NOT including the baby's nursery. Not even going there yet.

Are we talking the parts of the house that guests will see? Or all of it?
If we're talking just the public spaces, I'll say 3-4 hours. If we're talking bedrooms and office too, then I'm going to say a couple days!

Days? Weeks? with no kids.
There is so much I want done and never have the time or motivation to do it.

An hour for the entire house. I clean it top to bottom twice a week - and yesterday was one of those days.

I would need about 2 hours just to vacuum/sweep/and mop but everything else is pretty neat for the first time in forever!

we had been having snow days almost once a week for the past month... so i had been using those as my cleaning days since we cant leave the house. I'd get all the laundry done, deep clean at least one major room, do the floors and the bathrooms, change the sheets and declutter. I'm kind of sad i'm going to have to start fitting that back in on the weekends again

We are company ready right now (which is a fluke!) But there are some deep cleaning things I would like to get to and lots of organizing- I work under the assumption that company does not open closets! Probably 16 hours worth of deep cleaning (walls, grout etc) and organizing.

If I REALLY want to clean every corner and every inch of the house I'd say 4 hours. If it's just to normal standards, 2.

If we don't include the loft, which is packed with stuff, I'd say maybe 4 hours. I'm pretty well organised and I'm company ready for sure - but the house could really do with a decent deep clean!

@winniebee: Weeks...lol. We just moved into our new place last weekend and I am 35 weeks pregnant so even getting one box unpacked a night has been a huge accomplishment!

yikes way too much time! we just moved to a house, with multiple floors, and i'm so overwhelmed. i have trouble doing the dishes let alone actually taking time to clean the house. i find most of the time i spend cleaning the floors

At least 8 hours. I think that it would cover laundry alone. We have cleaners coming in today, so some of the cleaning will be done. Using the ToDoist app helps keep chores daily instead of a weekly deluge. I'm behind on laundry because LO was sick last weekend. Tomorrow's the first time I'll have to do laundry.

It's clean and organized now (even the playroom!) I spent about 20 mins cleaning up + loaded the dishwasher this morning.
If I wanted to get the house spot and dustfree (baseboards, blinds, etc) I'd probably need 1.5 hours of uninterrupted cleaning time.
pomelo / 5791 posts
If we don't include the nursery-in-progress and our craft/art/music studio, I'd say a couple of hours.
If we include those...at least a solid, full time week. At least.

We're pretty good right now. We're expecting guests tonight so we've been getting the house ready. Bathrooms are clean, floors vacuumed, playroom picked up, etc. The only thing that's a true disaster is my walk in closet, and we'll just keep that closed .
But I think we do need some deeper spring cleaning type stuff. Clean the fridge, dust the baseboards, wash the windows/french doors, etc. That stuff would probably take a couple hours.

It's not bad but 1-2 hours of cleaning to get it perfect. Maybe an extra hour for a couple small organization projects I have pending but nothing feels urgent at the moment.

@winniebee: It's pretty neat. DH and I can add tasks and assign them to each other. He sees it more as a compilation of tasks to be done. You can even comment on a task, etc. We've been using it for about a week or two now. If DH sticks with it, it'll work for us.

I would guess like 6 hours. I would need to clean every room, scrub the floors, clean windows, dust, vacuum ... All of these things are SO neglected right now. I'm pretty sure our kid has a good immune system because our floors are not the cleanest ever.

The nursery is in total disarray, because it's half painted with boxes of in-put-together furniture. So if we had to get it cleaned up, it would take a while. But just the rest of the house, maybe 4 hours? It really should be less, since I'm a housewife and have plenty of time to do it, but I've been slacking. I prefer everything be clean/near as possible!

3, I've done most of the big stuff (nesting) but I want to deep clean, do windows, and organize DD1's drawers before baby comes. I plan on doing it next Wednesday morning, followed by lunch and a pedicure with my friend as a reward! It's my "alone" day off, so I'm using it the best I can.

We moved in the fall and had a new baby in January, so there are three spots that are absolute disasters - the garage (moving boxes - still - and all the odds and ends that are left over from moving that haven't found their spot yet), my walk in closet (a graveyard of spare lampshades and shower curtains, that sort of thing), and LO2's closet (bins of baby clothes, our luggage, etc).
We would probably need 6 kid free hours to sort all of that out. With kids, we are likely looking at two weekends full of spring cleaning

Oh god.... maybe 6-8? We have a bunch of my late FILs stuff still in boxes in the basement, so it would take a bit to go through it all.

Probably 2 hours. The office is the only room that needs straightening. It would take me a little while to dust and clean the windows.
pomelo / 5093 posts
30 minutes to run the roomba? Pretty good beside that. Not perfect, but good.

The part of the house we currently live in is actually in pretty good shape. But we have to clean out our garage and throw out / sell / recycle a ton of stuff, then clean out our basement and figure out a good storage situation in the garage and storage room. It's a daunting task...!! I think it would take the two of us at least 12 kid-free hours, with all the driving to the dumpster back and forth and all. And a REALLY good shower afterwards.

The garage and guest room closet haunt my dreams. Mystery boxes, loose papers, craft supplies from our wedding...ugh. I'm taking a day off in the spring to tackle it. I keep the rest of the house clean and organized to assuage my guilt about the black holes!
nectarine / 2641 posts
I'd need 8-10 hours. Things have gotten a bit out of hand, since DH has been studying for his licensing exam (he passed this week!) I've already warned him that I'll be taking parts of the next few weekends to do some organization.
Just to prep/straighten/clean for guests to come/stay? 1-2 hours.
I was going to start working on it this week during preschool hours, but LO got sick and couldn't go. Next week I'll have 6 hours of preschool time, and starting these projects is a priority.

@winniebee: Clean? Probably half hour-hour.... mainly vacuum everything, I try to keep up with the general tidy-ness.
Organized? Weeks! Lol... we've lived in the house for 10 months and still have boxes and boxes in the basement, plus our office is a nightmare! We need pictures hung and shelves put up, plus buy some more shelving and dressers... in time.. in time I will have an organized house!
