On average, I get about 8 hours of sleep each night. My sleep is so important to me - I can't function at all if I don't get enough. My husband is able to get by with just 6 hours each night. I'm so jealous of him! Would love to stay up later

I too am an "about 8" kind of gal. I used to get way less but I felt like crap all the time. I'm sure this will change when LO arrives! My DH gets like no sleep (5-6 hours a night) and has more energy than me, so jealous!

7.5-9 depending on whether or not dd wakes up. I need a lot of sleep so I go to bed early.

I usually get about 7 - 8 hrs, and I feel like I NEED that much to function (and most days I still feel sluggish). No kids yet, so I'm scared about how I will handle much less sleep when the time comes!!

7-8, but I never sleep that in one stretch. I am lucky to only get up once to use the bathroom.
I really need 9 hours.

Pre-baby I averaged about 8, maybe a little less. I'm a night owl but would wake up as late as possible to still get to work sort of on time.
Now with a 6 month old who is up once or twice a night I think I average about 6 hours a night, but it's broken up with her night feedings. I add a little extra horizontal time, even if I'm not sleeping, by bringing her into bed for her morning feeding and do side lying nursing.
To those of you not sure how you will deal with so little sleep with a baby... you just do. Some days are worse than others (or in our case, some months...) but you get through it. You may snap at your SO saying, "It's FINE. I'll just never sleep again!" as you stomp off to the babies room yet again to feed her, but you'll survive

5-6 (not consecutive). It's rough, but I know so many have it much worse! @Alivoo01: I don't know how you do it!!

The first year of J's life? Maybe 3-4 hours. If I was lucky.
But now that he's nearly 2 and a good sleeper, I try to make sure I get 7-8. Some nights I stay up too late though and only get 5.5-6. I feel it pretty hard when I do that.
But after that first year with a baby - I know I could adjust to less sleep if I needed to.

I need a good solid 8 to function on a daily basis, I can go less if I need too 1-2 days but get it 3 in a row and I'm a mess & usually wind up sick!

5-6 in 2 chunks. I can manage on this, but it'd be nice to get a lie in every once in a while...

Around 8-10 usually. My husband takes the night wakings with our DS (has since I got pregnant and had to wean) so I get lots of blissful rest.

Most nights I get 5-6, usually consecutive. One weekend night I can usually get 8-9, if D gets up with E.
D's work schedule is weird, and he works late hours, so I have to stay up when I want to spend time with him. I've tried moving E's bedtime later but he wakes up at the same early-ish time (for us) no matter what time I put him down.

Anywhere from 6-8, depending on when LO wakes up and when I go to sleep.
For me, it's not the actual number of hours that helps me feel rested, I think--it's when they are. So I will feel more rested if I sleep from 12-7 than if I sleep from 9-5, even tho it's the same amount of sleep. Unfortunately, LO is an early riser and I am usually up by 6!

5-6, broken up into chunks....but sometimes DH does all the wakeups to let me catch up. Sometimes I do all the wakeups to let him catch up.
Friday he slept 12 hours straight. Then Saturday, I slept 10 hours straight. It was GLORIOUS. For both of us.
