DH says his ideal is 4. Any mix of genders, as long as we had at least one of each.
We're tentatively compromised on 3. As he says the only thing that deters him from the fourth is knowing how much it would take a toll on me.

DH wants 4...we are currently pregnant with twins so we are half way there! Whoot! I always say I'll take whatever the good lord will give us.

DH wants 2 or 3! I think gender might change that one way or another though.

2! And it was pulling teeth to get him to even admit he wants a second one! He knows how rough pregnancy and her birth was on me, so he has left the final decision with me, but he definitely does not want more than 2.

Hubs originally said 2. But then he wanted 0. Then I convinced him to go back to 2. Now that Xander's here, he says he'd be happy with 1. But he's open to 2. haha

DH has always wanted 2. I used to want 3. Now that we have lo, we might be one and done! We love our little handful of a child to pieces but we are tireddddd

I want 3 and hubs wants 1 so I say we go for 2, and hopefully they will be super awesome amazing children and he'll want a third after all
He comes from a large family though (he is #7 of 8) and it is something he REALLY doesn't want for himself.

DH used to want 3 and then he realized the cost of college and I think he will settle with 2.

My husband liked being an only child and would be happy with just one. But, he wanted a girl and we are having a boy. I would like our son to have a sibling -- I'm not an only child -- and will probably be able to talk him into another one if I still feel that way in a few years (regardless of gender).
I don't think we will have more than two. I'm already 36, and he's almost 38. Plus, honestly, three or more sounds really complicated, overwhelming, and incompatible with my career!

It was always 2, but now he says he would also be happy with 3.

1. He's willing to leave the door open for a second, but is pretty firmly on the side of 1 and done.

@Ash: Same here. He'd like at least 6 or so. But now that we have 2 and are expecting our 3rd, he's started to realize how much money kids take and, most of all, how much effort it takes to maintain a one-on-one relationship with each child. I think he's ok with stopping with 3 or 4.

He has said he'd be okay with two, but has stated a preference for one—pending how things with #1 go. We're in our early thirties and I'm slightly older, so timing is a factor there.
We're both the eldest in our families. I have a great relationship with my younger brother but he doesn't get along with his two younger sisters at all, which I think colors his wishes a bit.

@FarmWifeGina: I definitely don't want 10! I'd take 4 or 5 though. Maybe he will change his mind once lo arrives.

He was always on the fence between 2 and 3. Well once the 4-month sleep regression hit with our youngest, he decided 2 it was and promptly made an appointment to get snipped.

He says 4. We'll see what he says after we have 1! I wouldn't mind 3, but I don't think we'll be able to afford 4.

@Ash: I say I quit when we fill a Suburban. I won't drive anything bigger than a Suburban, lol. That could still mean 5 or 6, but at this point, I don't see us going past 4.

@FarmWifeGina: lol! That's hilarious! Yeah, I refuse to drive a bus! dh would tho!

2 - one of each, but if we doubled up, we'd try for a third but that's it!

He wants 4 or 5 but we'll just take them one at a time until our family feels complete so whether that means 2 or 5 we'll see!

DH wants 4. I'm willing to consider 3. He grew up with 4 and I grew up with 3, so I guess that's what we're comfortable with.
We have one so far

Just 1. He was/is a very happy only, and we both have individual interests that we don't want to exchange for a large number of kids. I bet I could talk him into a second if I really wanted one, which is the only reason he didn't get a vacectomy right after LO's birth.

2. We were both originally open to three but after experiencing first trimester, we're happy for just two.

1. We're considering a second (if one of us decided that we really wanted a second child, the other would readily agree).
