As we get closer to my first ultrasound this Thursday, I am having irrational fears that we're going to have another missed miscarriage like in July. Then the rational part of me says most people don't have two in a row, then the other rational part of me says how do you know that? So here we go.

I had one miscarriage before my daughter, and now I'm pregnant with our son. How far along are you? While most people will experience a miscarriage, repeated pregnancy loss is much less common. I bet everything will be just fine!

@mrsrain: I'll be 7w on Thursday. I was 8w when we had our first missed m/c, but it showed the baby stopped growing at 7.5 weeks so I doubt I'll even feel reassured by seeing a h/b.

Two - Although they were back to back, one was a Blighted Ovum and one was a MMC found at 12 weeks (after we had heard the HB). So the first one was obviously tough because we had never had a MC before, but the second one was WAY tougher.

Two. First was an early loss (chemical) at almost 5 weeks and the second was the very next cycle and it was at 7 weeks. My betas were never rising properly, my my tests were darker and if I hadn't had betas I would have thought everything was fine.

@JoJoGirl: Well, to help ease your mind, I think it really was just bad luck. We did testing after those two losses and found nothing and immediately went on to get pregnant right away after that and had our son.

I've only had one and it was a very early one (technically a CP but I think that counts).
@JoJoGirl: I'm so sorry you went through what you did. I'm constantly terrified of losing my baby. I'm 23 weeks now and I'm still nervous. I think a MC steals the joy from future pregnancies. Wishing you lots of

I've had one CP and one healthy baby. I don't blame you for being worried, I think having experienced that before makes you feel more vulnerable and more hesitant to celebrate. I bet a lot of us have felt that way. Of course you should think positively but it's natural to have worries.

I had a loss at 5 weeks ... Then a healthy pregnancy with LO. I think I had a CP a few months ago. It was a 38 day cycle (not normal for me), and I got 2 faint positives in a blue dye test. I got AF before my blood work appointment, so who knows?!

@JoJoGirl: prayers heading your way! I only had one m/c but it was identified at my 12 wk appt after seeing the HB too which is really uncommon. It took a while to get KU again and I was nervous until about 24 weeks. I am nursing that now 5 month old now!

I had a miscarriage at 6 weeks, and got pregnant again with my daughter the following month. It was so hard to go through, and I'm sure that that lurking fear of loss will be the back of my mind throughout every pregnancy I have. Those I've talked to in real life who have experienced loss have almost all just had one loss.

Hmm, I haven't had one but I don't think that makes me a unicorn. I've had one intended pregnancy. The miscarriage rate is somewhere between 10-25% of pregnancies and of course the more times you are pregnant, the higher the chances you will end up having one. But it's not true that most women have a miscarriage.

Four. I can't believe that, but four. One before DS1 and 3 in a row since DS2. All very early, fortunately. At this point, I don't think I'll ever be able to be excited about being pregnant again

Every single one of my close girlfriends (5 total) has had a miscarriage , but they also all have children

The more I open up to friends and family about my prior losses, the more I hear if others experiencing M/C as well.

@sapphire: I heard somewhere that 80% of women have had a miscarriage (yes 20-25% per pregnancy but many women have more than one pregnancy). Almost all of my IRL friends have had one (I'm 38 and my friends have more than one kid). So it is what it is.

I've had two miscarriages in between DD1 and DD2. The first one was a blighted ovum that we found out about at 7.5 weeks and waited until 12 weeks for a natural miscarriage but ended up having a d&c. The second one was 4.5 months after the d&c and it was a chemical. The first one absolutely broke me and I cried a lot... we tried taking progesterone and then once we knew it we did all we could, I waited for 3 weeks before scheduling a d&c. In some ways the d&c helped me have some closure but thinking about it still brings tears to my eyes. The second one brought about a new fear.

@sapphire: my doc says about 90% of women will have one in their lifetime.
Two in a row for me, with a diagnosed issue and none since i started medication for it!! FX for you!
I think HB statistics are a bit off because a lot of the women here aren't past their child rearing years, which definitely factors in

@JoJoGirl: I'd be curious to see where you heard 80%. My understanding is that the rate is still believed to be closer to 1 out of every 4 women.

None. I've been pregnant 3 times and have 3 healthy babies. I feel very fortunate.

@blackbird: 90%?? Really? That seems shockingly high unless we're counting chemicals one didn't ever even know about because it was so early and they weren't testing for and even then...I'd be shocked!
I keep thinking of my best friends and out of 9 of us that I am thinking specifically of only one has ever had a miscarriage that they've known about. And that's with having 19 children between us and 3 more currently on the way - so quite a lot of pregnancies. I would have to think that 90 percent figure is high or maybe he sees more in a higher age population or something? Idk.
But either way, to all who have had a loss: big hugs.
