I know that they pretty much fly through these sizes and stay at 2 for a while, but I'm trying to decide how many I'll actually need. At the moment, I only have one regular pack of newborn and I know I'll get one or two more. I'm debating on buying the size 1 in a case from Amazon. Or even newborn, if he might stay in them.
I have big babies, too, and I know it all varies between LOs, but I'm just trying to get an idea.

We never really used the newborn size. At 9 lbs at birth the hospital just put her straight in ones.

1 case of size ones... and really stretched to use the last bunch...should have had her in twos about a week and a half earlier.

1 small package of newborns. We really only used them until his cord stump came off. We used a case of 1's + a couple other small packages.

DS is 6.5 weeks old and we used NB diapers for a month, and we're currently using 1s. He was born 8lbs 5.5oz, so not a teeny baby. I think we go through the 1s much faster than the newborns though, now that he's a little bigger he's pooping more (more often and larger quantities) and we're having a lot more incidents of putting a new diaper on, only to have him immediately poop in it before we get his clothes back on.

Mine was nearly 9lbs at birth and he was in newborns for almost a month. We had a ton of ones, but not many newborns because I knew he'd be big, so we had to go get more newborns. I think it depends a lot on the shape/proportions of your baby. We're still in ones now at 7 weeks.

M was in NB for a few days and 1s a little but longer. She def did not finish a case of Amazon 1s.

A was in newborn for about 4 weeks. Everyone told us not to buy any, so we bought one small pack. DH was constantly going out to buy more. She was in size 1's for about another 8-10 weeks maybe and then 2's. She actually wasn't in 2's as long as I thought she would be. We used 2's less than all the other sizes.

Ours used three 90 packs of newborns - I think about a month's worth and two giant (236) cases of size ones until she was 3.5 months old. But only wore size two for a month. Just one largest size case of swaddlers and I put her up to size three to prevent poop up the back at 4.5 months even though she was only 15 lbs, not 16. I imagine she'll stay there for a while since size three is supposed to go to 28lbs.

Ok...so I think I'll stick with my one pack of NB and get a case of 1's. There can't be much harm in going straight to 1's after the NB is gone, right? Is it that much of a difference? (besides the number of diapers in a package)
I also have no issue with sending DH or someone else out for more NB's, if it makes that much of a difference.

She wore newborn for 3 or 4 weeks. Then size 1 for at least a couple months. Don't remember exactly.

I'm definitely the minority here, but LO will be 8 weeks on Monday and is still in newborn diapers. I think after this case we will switch to size 1.

We used NB for a month- he was 8lbs but took a while to regain birth weight. Then we went through 1s really fast- 2 weeks? And 2s for a couple months. We were in 3s the longest.

We used newborns for a little over a month. She's 10 weeks & will still be in ones for a while, I think. She goes through about 12 diapers a day so you can do the math from there!

My LO is a month old and still in NBs. I'm not sure when she'll move up. We're doing a combo of cloth and disposables, so I don't actually know how many diapers she's gone through, but it's a LOT!

@Dandelion: LO was almost 9 lbs and was in newborns about 4-6 weeks. She was in 1's until she was about 9-10 weeks. Some brands she can still wear 1's.

We didn't use newborns at all, but only because we already had the 1s. She's almost 3 months old and is still in 1s, but I think she'll be moving up in a couple of weeks.

No newborns here (9lbs7oz). We were in 1s until 4.5 weeks and now at 5 weeks we're in 2s.

LO was born 6 lbs 12 ounces, and went through about three of the big cases in a month before she switched over. She was only eight pounds when we switched, but was having major blow outs and the ones seemed to work better, even though they swallowed her. At ten weeks and ten pounds, the ones fit perfectly, and we've used another three cases. I think she'll be in them for a while.

We went through 400 NB diapers, 500 size 1s and so far 600 size 2 and am going to buy one more big box today. She was 7,1 at birth and is 14 lbs now at 4.5 months.

We had 3 small packs of newborn diapers including what we used at the hospital and 2 smaller boxes of size 1 and one huge box of size 1. We switched D to size 2 diapers at 3 months old for night time use but I am determined to use up the size 1 we have so he is still in those during the day. Out of all of those diapers we only bought one box, the rest were shower gifts. If you are having a shower, I would hold off on buying any diapers until you see what you get.
